Fun fact: Apple (& Steve Jobs I think?) back in the day was part of the group who were making modern day USB-C a thing. But cause they were taking so long(or some other issue that caused delays), Apple decided to make their own port. Thus the lightning port was born. Some details may b wrong in that fyi. Also the device that HoloTalents use to track their bodies for the 3D model, do they REALLY only last a few hours? If it’s a modern smartphone, shouldn’t they last way longer? Most phones should last all day now, but I could understand a little less than that since it’s tracking bodies…

@joriss.1239 \*puts on Fauna glasses\* well actually, UNIX is just a standard on how an operating system should behave, not an operating system by itself. To gain this standard certification, Apple pays for them to be able to prove their OS is UNIX based (It behaves as per the standards of UNIX). Linux is based on POSIX, which is the free version of the UNIX standard. So essentially it works pretty much the same (in terms of processes, irqs, memory management, and general syscalls)

No no, money is correct. The only reason they are now changing to USB C is bc of the EU forcing them to be customer friendly

@@JackdotCI still think it was stupid to mandate something like that when the USB Forum can’t even make a standard without it being convoluted as hell. Whole reason Apple was able to get away with having the worst implementation of USB-C on the iPhone. Like mandate a minimum version of USB (i.e. 3.2 2x2) or USB4 instead of just mandating a form factor. That way it would’ve been USB-C that doesn’t suck instead of USB 2.0

They aren't lying. Apple used proprietary ports so that they could make extra on the chargers. Otherwise, they would have used the cords that already existed .

@@JackdotC That's a perspective thing tho, lightning predates USB-C, and most of the iphone's customer base are reoccurring consumers, who are already invested in the "lightning ecosystem".
