@@ProphetOfDoubt I could only get behind that as far as campaigns go, to me it just seems like CoD is becoming a little too safe story-wise, and the older ones are undefeated at that (though MW2019 was really a breath of fresh air). But MP and Zombies? Definitely rose-tinted glasses. I grew up on BO1, BO2 and MW2 multiplayer, and even revisited them relatively recently, I gotta say, it’s not a downgrade, it’s just different nowadays. The thing is that we grew up, and sometimes it just doesn’t hit the same as it used to when we were kids. For newer players these games are fun, and trust me, in 5 years or so they will be the ones saying the same things about today’s CoD

In those years CoD was innovating, it was growing, it had new ideas and was the peak of FPS and set the standard of what we should expect from them, year on year. Then they hit a ceiling. Each game would re-hash or recycle ideas and features, they became repetitive. Now we have a stale franchise and with each game we have to hope they fixed/changed features for the better, often just trying to reach the levels of older CoDs when they should be surpassing them. CoD game are no longer designed to be "good" games, they're designed to be profitable and quality and profit are not synonymous. Think of CoD as the "made in China" of video games. It does what it needs to to sell a lot, it's cheap, accessible and meets the minimum requirements. Is it good quality? Absolutely not.

Hearing you guys talk about Cod 4 is just so nostalgic to me. I remember seeing my uncle play 2 games, which made me decide right then I needed an Xbox. GTA 4, and Cod 4. Ironically my uncle was a cop (and Swat member lol). But I remember seeing him use the M4, playing online against other players, cursing occasionally at them on the mic. Just the detail, the competitiveness of playing others, the raw trash talk. I was immediately hooked. Then I think that next year, in 2008, I got WaW and GTA 4, followed by Cod4 shortly after. Toss in some Runescape, and that 2007-2012 era was the best time of my life.

I’ve been a CoD fan ever since Call of Duty 2, because my dad introduced me to the franchise with it. I’m pretty sure I own almost every title, except for BO4, because the lack of a campaign really bummed me out. And I have to say, aside from Vanguard and MWIII I don’t think newer CoD titles are all that bad. Hell, I’m so hooked on BO6 that I’m almost entering master prestige, and I got every season covered in MWII 2022. Sure, it’s very different from what it used to be, and some aspects I’m not really a fan of (design of cosmetics and such), but in its core it is a fun experience that really resonates with my love for older titles

@ I can agree bugs and bad spawns are on devs but small maps make spawns harder to fix nuketown spawns are good until you get spawn trapped and the spawns can’t flip. Devs do deserve blame for what they can control the gameplay how the game looks feels etc but when it comes to the “predatory casino matchmaking and the advertisement” all that needs to be pointed directly at activision I would even say having nothing but small and medium maps should be pointed at activision cuz they the ones checking the data and seeing people only playing small map playlist lol I like majority small maps tho especially the 10v10 mode on small maps makes it easier to get kills get xp and do camos

50:10 when Fortnite was focused on being just a fun BR, I would say between the beginning and season 4, it really did have the most addicting gameplay loop I've seen in a video game ever. It was very nice, and even the seasons after, until like season 8, were very good. During those season to season 4 months, I only played that and BF2. Good times, so many good games back then, the games I play nowadays are still games from around 2015 to 2018 (R6, BF1, BO3, BF2, even OW used to be great as well)

Ok heres my take as a random dude from alabama: cod4 modern warfare was the very first game i bought with my own money when i bought my ps3. Also the first game i played in hd. Needless to say i was blown away. Fast forward to now and my game library has expanded to different genres and experiences. RPGs to third person open world, racing games, and story games. Cod still has a special place in my mind. Halo as well as it was my first FPS game. Now nostalgia aside i have to say cod has lost its "edge". older cods were more visceral and didnt necessarily glorify war. Nowadays cod is HIGHLY influenced by culture. From nicki minaj skins to sbmm its a shadow of its formal self.. you could almost say the same about kratos from god of war. If you know you know. I went to gamestop a month ago and purchased my first disc game in years. Dark Souls 3. Why am i mentioning this? Because i chose to buy that over black ops 6. And i totally do not regret it. Cod fans here me out! There is way more games out there... you do not have to play cod and grind multiplayer 24/7. Expand your horizons. I highly recommend any fromsoftware title. Dark soul 1 remastered is cheap and amazing. 👏 rant over

I really appreciate Blame truth's message, and I appreciate his willingness to stand up for what he thinks is right in the gaming space and to make people aware of the scummy things activision and these other companies are putting them through. Recently I've been watching a ton of his videos talking about black ops 6 and it made me realize that I made a mistake being so hopeful for the company this year and I genuinely hope more people make the choice to leave COD behind and support other creators because they really do deserve it. XDefiant wont be for everyone but I hope people can wake up to what COD has been doing to them and their brains and just, go experience a good classic shooter campaign and learn to actually enjoy games again and not just be a rat going back to the same drug infused water.

@@itstroy4145I think it’s multiple things, number one is I’m a zombies player first and the zombies mode is just absolutely amazing to me. I’ve also always found the cod multiplayer formula to be fun and despite the spawns being a pretty big issue right now and just a little bit of lag (I know some people have a ton) I’ve enjoyed this no way better than the last couple. I also don’t really take games all that seriously anymore, that may also have something to do with it

I hate podcasts and I didn't like it that you opted to start/join one Chop, but having you actually talk to BT has made me appreciate your podcast a lot. I love BT, he is the only popular figure who voices my opinions on CoD on the internet and for some stupid reasons many hate his approach an/or hate him for his persona. CoD has been dead for me since 2019 as I have stopped playing in December 2019 for good and lost all my hope with CoD 2020, but still seeing someone asking for a good CoD brings me a slight cope that maybe, just maybe, someday the devs would eventually return to how it used to be and actually release a finished game, on a proper engine (such as the one used before 2019) and remove all the features added to the game in 2019 and after, whule bringing back everything that they had removed from the games prior to 2019. To conclude, I hope that if you agree with BT, as I still didn't listen to the podcast but I will later, when any of the dev teams reach out to you, tell them of our opinions. We need more people to talk about this stuff if we want things changed.

Mw3 was my favorite for the same reason. I used to play split screen with my cousin online when ever he would visit. I started with a class with specialist and a pp90m1 base nothing unlocked and ran through lobbies all night until it was gold the whole time on splitscreen. I was a drop shot goblin.
