Does DKOldies REALLY Refurbish and Clean Consoles?

As I shared in the video, there were some good reasons for me. Most of those eBay consoles are going to be older and dirty. Even if they work, they're going to have older belts, no thermal paste, if you have someone that promises to clean a console, a console that you would have to pay someone 80 bucks to clean or even 50 bucks or 60. Either way it would cost a ton to clean it. And then add thermal paste. If you want to console that will last, there's a reason why it would at least be appealing to buy from dk oldies. BUT, if this don't clean or refurbish their consoles it doesn't matter

I agree, I always buy retro consoles on eBay. Better deals and in good condition because you can see actual photos of what you're buying.

Unless you work at DKOldies, you must refurbish and clean all consoles inside and out. Until now, stick to flea markets and thrift stores.

A month ago I got a working ps3 back comp. For 15$. Before that I got model one sega cd , genesis first gen, and sealed 32x for 200$. All at the Fleamarket. And a couple of 3ds for 25$ or lower. Cib ps3 folklore for $3.

I recently bought a Xbox 360 again but I bought it from eBay. It was in perfect condition and it was the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 edition! I'm satisfied with my purchase and the price. I wouldn't buy anything from DK, I've heard nothing but bad things.

It may work good, and look good on the outside, but I'm worried about these old warm consoles. Thermal paste is 15+ years old on a lot of these consoles. That won't be replaced unless someone opens it and does it. Disc trays almost always have belts that stretch over time. I just don't like the longevity of any xbox 360 unless it's been professionally refurbished. You can use it until it breaks and then replace that stuff I guess. But for me I've been trying to find a console cleaned on the inside, fans cleaned, and thermal paste replaced. Dkoldies promises this, but they just don't do it. Either way you got an incredible deal on ebay. I'm just really really picky about my xboxes. We ended up buying one on Facebook for like $30 and we cleaned it ourselves 🤣. That was our final result

Yeah when GameStop says they refurbish they don't. But dk oldies doesn't even just say they Refurbish. They take it a step further and promise to replace thermal paste and drive belts and all of that stuff. Along with clean the inside. So the fact that they claim that and do this, yeah it's just as bad as buying an OLD console from GameStop

My way of looking at it as someone who has purchased from them in the past: Games are generally perfectly fine, consoles are hit and miss. So if you are going to buy from them, try to just stick to the games if they have a decent price or deal on them. Consoles are like I said pretty hit or miss so if you are willing to take a chance then go for it but just be warned that no they really dont refurbish as often as they claim.

That's the best way. I'd be willing to buy a game, like when I saw Super Mario for the same price as gamestop . Then you get the warranty . But consoles are hit or miss. My Wii was fine. The 360's were not

For not really much more you could have found a modded Xbox 360E and had extra features like emulation, DLC thats no longer available, fan-made levels, and mods like model swaps and such.

Yeah but I'd still be worried about the same stuff lol. The belts wear down after a few years, no thermal paste for 10 to 15 years, dirty fans, again for me I'm just wanting to find a cheap but guaranteed clean console with thermal paste. That seems nearly impossible to find online. I'm not completely against others doing modding and stuff like that, but I do prefer to buy my games and build a physical collection.

​@@AndroidDigest the point being generally modders who take apart consoles clean and refurb them, every one I've had over the years has, it's no extra time while you're taking everything apart anyway. I mean tbf you did buy a console from a company who's got literally thousands of videos about this exact issue and your point of "maybe things would be different" isn't really great when multiple videos and shorts of DK doing this have been uploaded at regular intervals (2 months, 4 months, etc,. from a search) I assumed being an android channel you'd be used to taking apart tech but a cursory glance, not really? might be a good chance to dive into modifying the linux platform a bit more, I remember sideloading bt5r3 onto a galaxy s7 in high school and refurbing tech is a pretty easy way to chase yt trends, given the lighting/thumbnails/titles it might be worthwhile to chase and document it as a first time. "ten things I wish I knew about repairing my phone" listicle, for example. I don't mean this condescendingly either chase the bag, I used to have a bigger channel too but got burnt out and that was 13yrs ago with friends helping offload some of the mental strain. best of luck mate, if you're doing gaming reviews might consider the vast world of android emulation stations especially with the constant advances in budget android boxes. My nvidia shield still holds up and it's a pretty big area in terms of views too

Thanks! I used to sell phones at Sprint for 4 years. I was the nice guy that talked people into bringing their bills DOWN and maybe using some of that to buy some extra things they NEEDED. Meanwhile, the associate next to me was talking the customers into free phones with surprise charges every month 🤣🤣. My passion for phones and tablets got me into tech and into KZbin. Sadly I won't ever cover much with iPads (I know you like them), and I'll always have a heart for people on a budget (because of my roots helping families on a budget) but more tablet/phone content will come soon

@@AndroidDigest regrettably I bought 2 iPads s while back: the Mini and another one. I have a background in graphic design. I used to buy Mac Book Pros also. I've had 1 for almost ten years But the refresh rates on the iPads are just too slow. Like 60hz. No bueno But I don't like how apple forces ppl's hands to stay in their ecosystem. Apple has just gotten greedy. And I refuse to get caught up in in the iPhone hype. Android Tablets and Windows laptops just offer better values and vatiety for ppl to choose from. This channel showcases a lot of products with different price points. There truly is something for everyone on this channel.
