Born and raised in NC as a UNC fan. Here in NC regardless of which school you are a fan of there is a mutual respect even though it may not be obvious to everyone else. My view is that Duke recruits a lot of one & dones. UNC has never recruited those types of players ever. UNC recruits well rounded athletes that have great potential that it can spend years developing. Duke has more superstar freshman that may only stick around a year or 2 at most. So UNC players on average enter the league much more developed and prepared for the NBA

Nah he was a great player but not close to top 10 of all time in college. There are just way too many before him. Many you probably never saw. He worked hard but was no super-talent. Take a look at the Big O, Kareem, Walton, Manning, Maravich, Russell, Scott May, Isiah, Glenn Robinson…it’s gotta be a list of 50 before you even think about Tyler. Heck UNC has 10 ahead of him! 2 on one team ahead of him, Jordan & Worthy. Even though Jordan left very early. IU has at least 3 on the ‘76 team ahead of him. Alford is ahead of him. (54% from 3-pt range & carried them to a title). West, Chamberlain, Robinson, Battier, Olajuwon, Chaney! Jim Jackson. Not even in same league. Insulting to mention Hansborough in the same convo but I agree he was a great player.

Seems like alot of duke players have had significant injuries in NBA and as result not lived up to hype. Not sure about last 20 years but since Roy came to town UNC has more titles than Puke.

So much truth here for once. Jordan is the greatest ever, but not if you are only talking about college- Lew Alcindor, Ralph Sampson, Bill Walton, Pete Maravich, etc. But is Duke really the better program over the last 20 years? Since 2000, both programs have 3 titles, and UNC has more Final 4 and Elite 8 appearances.
