Agree with the other comment. When will you be posting fishing updates from captains Dan and Gerry?

Interesting, although there are just sooo many factors to consider when it comes to catching bass - with color just being one. As we all know, sometimes it doesn't matter what you present you'll get bit (hotdog on a hook) , other times they won't bite anything. But thank you Ken for enlightening us with knowledge and blinding me with science!

Very interesting video. A lot of it makes sense to me. Like to learn as much as I can. Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this. Going to lighten up my kayak for my next trip out.

With this study, the conclusion should be watermelon red is the best option when it comes to what they attack (soft plastics). What about shiners? They are neither and they destroy them. I was born and raised here and junebug has always been the standard. I do agree most of us carry too many colors though.

Good discussion. I agree that most bass strikes on lures are reaction strikes except for lures like senkos which bass actually like to eat 😉

ok so with that it makes at least a lot of colors at least pointless, but my question is, does color actually matter. is there any real evidence that shows bass magically will prefer red on some days and white on others? what would cause these random shifts and do all of the bass's daily color preference match up with eachother?

I believe fish either want light or dark colors. All else is in the fisherman’s head. But confidence catches fish

I don't fully agree with his topwater analogy because he only makes the case of viewing the lure from directly underneath the lure. Yes that will be nearly black. But most topwater bass strikes that I have seen were initiated from some distance to the side, therefore the side and partial back color can be seen by the bass. Try to sneak up up on a bass that is nosed up to the bank. They clearly see what is above the water. Due to refraction their field of vision is quite wide. Go with a bright yellow shirt and then go with a shirt the color similar to your background. I have done this experiment to convince myself what to wear when sight fishing. The bass will almost always spook and move with a brighter colored shirt and are less easily spooked with a blended background color.
