I really don’t understand the negativity in gladiator 2. That was one of the best theatre experiences of this year. The action sequences were unreal along with the score and Denzel. The twin emperors killed it. I think the mistake is comparing it to a 2000 epic as opposed to viewing it as a pure action movie.

Maybe because i never really watched the first Gladiator or only did a long time ago, but i thought Mescal was really good. Really enjoyed the whole thing. It's got to be the love of the first one affecting people's view i'd guess, which does make sense

I think Kenjac summed up Gladiator 2 perfectly on the story and writing. It’s way messier and not as focused as the original is. I personally disagree that Paul was a miscast, I just don’t think they gave him enough to work with especially when we take it back to that point about how messy the script was. It was trying to do too much.

Overall it was a half-baked movie. Mescal was the best choice out of the rumored names that were contacted for the part. He wasn't given a ton to work with, but he was also painfully monotone.

Into the Woods did not get a Best Picture nomination. Got a Golden Globe nomination for Comedy-Musical. And Meryl Streep got a best supporting actress nomination
