Steve, Believe it or not, i was a high level opener batter in cricket and i batted with an open stance because this was very natrual to me. I finished playing cricket at 26 to raise a family, i started golf up 8 years ago for fun and exercise at the age of 45 when my mates got me into it after i got cancer. Im cured from cancer now and i am really loving my golf. Me being me i have been always trying to get better ever day, having leason after leason diving into all the technical techniques of the golf swing. The problem with trying to create the perfect golf swing as per the professionals perspective you end up creating an unnatural swing that is not sustainable. In endeavour of this perfect swing i wasted 8 years. Two weeks ago after extreme frustration with my golf swing i had a light bolb moment, i remembered back to my cricket days when i batted with an open stance . I decided to play golf with an open stance which feels very natual to me, OMG what a difference this has made, no slice, no fat and fin shots and my divots are in line with the target. I decided to research on youtube on who plays with an open stance and was very surprised that there was many professionals and came across the Euraka golf swing and i love it and am following you now, keep up the fantastic work Steve. Great to watch how it affects the ball flight. Easier to shape the shots if it's all about moving the ball and not change the swing.

Really interesting watching your launch angles and spin rates change too Steve. I'll be playing around with these for shot shaping based on wind conditions too.

Steve, this is an example of building speed with clubhead & body rotation with right forearm rotating over left. Jack Nicklaus built speed by accelerating entire club with a pulling force & then used a coupling effect of his wrists to release the club. This helped to keep the rotation down of the clubface.

Great vid Steve. Would be good to do comparison on ball position with driver swing and how it effects ball flight considering you are swinging more up on the ball 👍

Great content as always Steve, this info gives the knowledge how to hit the 9 windows and what that does to carry distance too. Cheers Buddy liking the shiny new toy too 😎

I like the methodical approach. I think we could have spent 5 minutes looking at the data screen to understand the variables and see the flights. We never got to see the flights Steve....... How about another one on flighting the ball high and low with video and data?

Great video. Very interesting what such a subtle change can do to your ball flight and game altogether. Btw why the change to trackman?

Using the Eureka motion for full shots from the 3i- F Wedge: would hand-position-in-relation-to-ball-position always be that the hands are a hair ahead of the ball for crisp contact? Using your Eureka motion, I feel that once i have my feet where i need them for my body type, etc., that my hands always need to be a hair ahead of the ball in order to get that nice bowed wrist/ squared shoulders/inside to out club path at impact.

I tried your Eureka set-up for a while and it certainly helped with consistency and hitting straighter shots. However, it has really started hurting my lower back. Is this something you've heard from players before. Any advice?

Steve is the ball being further back in the stance creating more compression? Hence more distance?

Hi Steve. Quick question, the horizontal line representing “normal” ball position for you, just exactly where is that in relation to your upper torso. ? ie, is normal centre of chest, slightly left of sternum, I’m sure you get what I’m asking.
@stevejohnstongolf
@stevejohnstongolf 5 жыл бұрын
For me hitting 6 iron is centre of chest which is slightly further back than recommended but that hos I play.

I’ve been pulling a lot with my middle irons with the balls more back in my stance. I don’t know why . My driving has been dead on and I can move it both ways teeing it lower.

I love your videos and have posted comments on few. I only have one eye my right and play right handed even though I am left handed due to the lack of binocular vision moving a ball back one ball is impossible. None of you coaches including the one in the past will address people with disabilities

Yeah sure does. If the balls further back with normal swing , should hitting with face a little open due hitting it earlier in the swing.

It seems that the open stands with your Eureka swing has a difficult time creating a draw unless you drastically place the ball back in your stands; at best your draw creates a straight ball. Unless you set up straight with your feet I don’t believe the Eureka swing will ever be a draw swing. Nothing wrong with it if an individual is comfortable with a fade swing. In summary, the ball path can only be from a straight ball to a fade, the more you move it forward the more of a fade the swing will create.

I don’t know what the Eureka method is you’re referring to but you have a very open stance at address. Is this part of it ?

If you hit a fade with the ball forward it means you adjusted your swing because it should have been a low pull to the left. You hit the ball with the club face slightly open causing the fade. If you were swinging your clubface the same as your center ball position swing with your clubface behaving exactly the same, the forward ball position should have pulled left of target because your clubface would have been naturally slight closed. Your experiment, although cool, fails. Also, if you are hitting further with the ball back in your stance, it means that your natural swing is not hitting down on the ball as it should be with sufficient forward shaft lean.

I recon my ball position changes by more than one ball position, sometimes a 4 iron is off my left heel and sometimes it is middle of my stance. Could i just put every iron off the middle of my stance for more consistency or do the low irons need to be a little bit forward in stance?
