Does Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure Live Up to the Hype?? | Universal’s Newest Attraction

Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is the newest roller coaster and attraction to open at the Universal Orlando Resort!! The ride is located in the Hogsmeade section portion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Islands of Adventure!! The ride is a "story" roller coaster that places guests into Hagrid's Care of Magical Creatures class as they take a tour of the forbidden forest aboard a fleet of enchanted motorbikes to check out all the cool magical creatures!!
In this video, I will discuss my thoughts and opinions on the ride, how the ride compares to the other major attractions in Orlando, and whether or not I believe this attraction is a worthy replacement for the defunct Dueling Dragons. (RIP Dragons)

This is something that drives me nuts with "coaster enthusiasts". They don't account for the full experience of a ride with everything from the queue to the intensity of the ride. This is why I like rides like the Mummy more than most of the Six Flags roller coasters. Excellent review!

Yea its just a purist mindset that taints most overly zealous fandoms out there. Despite having ridden almost all the B&Ms in Florida i think my favorite coaster in the state is still (dont get too mad) Space Mountain. Its really an immersive journey and i think the hagrid ride looks incredible in that aspect, cant wait to try it one day

Man I was one of the last ones to ride this 2 days ago. It was around 10:30 pm when I went and it was raining. IT WAS AMAZING. It really felt like I was on an adventure! I didnt mind that the top half of my body was wet because I had so much fun with this coaster!

@@JLDReactions definitely not a kiddie ride, small kids can't ride on it cuz it's very intense and it pulls some hard Gs. I've been on it about three times now, they do have a kitty ride in the area and you can have your backpack and glasses and hats and stuff while on the ride. On this ride you have to put all your stuff in a locker, and there's height restrictions for it.

I was just at universal a couple weeks ago and was lucky enough to ride this one twice as I must have had the best timing as the lines were never longer than 45 minutes. Both times I rode this one I chose a different seat(1st time I rode the bike, 2nd I rode the sidecar) and I have to say that it is way more fun to ride the bike than the sidecar since you get more into the motions without having the sidecar walls keeping you in place.

Hagrid's is fun but nothing topped Dueling Dragons when they were actualy dueling. Red Dragon in the middle for the flight time, ice dragon in the front for the view or in the back of either for the whip & speed.

I rode Dueling Dragons once in 2003. Front row, blue dragon track. To this day it is the single most intense coaster experience I have ever had. I legitimately thought I was going to die for about 1 second when I was speeding head-on toward the red train before the mirrored loops.

Watching the POVs, the most annoying thing about this ride is how it spells out what's going on in tedious detail. "Look! There's a unicorn!" "Thanks, I figured that out on account of the unicorn."

it at least makes sense since the idea is that Hagrid is basically a tour guide for his group of students. that unicorn part would be a lot less Dora-ish if there were some trees to semi-hide it, like it would be if you were actually going through the forbidden forest

i am so, so sad that i never got to ride Dueling Dragons. i watched Bring It On: In It to Win It religiously as a child, which used the coaster as inspo for a cool ass cheer routine, and didn’t realize that was a real coaster 🤦🏻‍♀️ now i see it was, and that it doesn’t exist anymore.

I completely agree with your review. First, it was really a surprise how the layout of the ride is and the speed you feel while riding, even though it doesn't offer too much airtime the storyline and theme were nicely done. Also, loved your comment about the overuse of the screens across both Universal parks since it's one of my frequent complaints. Great video!

I haven’t read much HP but I love roller coasters & I love how you provided enough story elements/context about the theming to help convey that to the viewers. For example, I didn’t even realize the coaster wasn’t super intense due to all of the story elements included by the ride + your narration. Like how it was typical of Hagrid to make mistakes sometimes lol thank you for the enthusiasm, the history, the lore, the research & the technical explanations + diagrams.

Love this ride! Rode it twice and was in tears at the end of both ride-throughs thanks to seven launches, getting to see Hagrid, and how much nostalgia it brought back. Thanks for pointing out several moments that I never noticed before, like the trail of fire and the skrewt at the end of the drop (I'm always too busy laughing from the drop!)

I think Disney should use this roller coaster for The Avengers in the Marvel land expansion coming to California Adventure.. Just Imagine.. The exterior could look like The Avengers facility and the roller coaster could span several Acres Have Show-Scenes indoors & Then speed-up outdoors

I was very lucky to get to ride this at night my first time. Everything being lit by the headlight on the front of the motorcycle feels like the way the ride is meant to be experienced. I think I've ridden the ride 6 times and it's been great every time. Optimal experience is on a cool night sitting in the drivers seat.

I went on this one day one/two with my then future wife. It was closed all day but they let us go at night. At night it is such an incredible experience, we even got to sit at the last brake run outside of the station as the fireworks started going off right in front of us at Hogwarts. The most memorable coaster I've ever been on.

I still dream of being able to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and this is at the top of my To Do List when I finally get to go, I'm floored at how faithful the ride is to the theme of Harry Potter. That part in the cave with the Devil's Snare looks incredible. Absolutely inspired.

It does somewhat upset me that when I went to islands of adventure I was so young the only coaster I got on was The Unicorn...my dad and sister went on it and couldn't stop talking about how dope it was. This new ride looks proper sick though and with the new dueling dragons not being that far from me thats also pretty sick. Low to the ground and tight turns feels just as speedy and fun as the tall drop big coasters! The non stop conveyor load and unload system is the way it should be done! Keeping the lines moving! The attraction starts while you wait.

I have rode Hagrids and Dragon Challenge and I can easily say that Dueling Dragons is the overall better ride but it’s actually very close since Hagrids has elite theming and some cool elements such as the spike and the track drop inside the cave.

Rode it at night first, absolutely incredible, felt like I was actually in the forbidden forest. You have to ride it a night for this effect because we all know the forest as dark and you can’t get that in the day, there’s just not enough cover.

This was one of the best rollercoasters I’ve ever rode. I rode it three times and in my opinion it’s best to ride on the motorbike (not the side car) and in the front it’s also best to ride at night. It’s a completely different experience.

I agree! I was able to go on at night with a light drizzle, too! This ride is definitely almost an entirely different experience in a light drizzle and at night, it's almost like it was intended that way. The lights of the bikes ACTUALLY TURN OFF WHEN YOU REACH THE UPWARD SPIKE. Unbelievable attention to detail. Plus, the drizzle on your face just improves the ride experience so much.

I finally got to ride this one a few weeks ago and man what a ride, traditional roller coasters like Hulk get pretty boring after riding it a few times because of the lack of interaction and theming, theres nothing expect the sound of the train moving along the track and the first timers screaming. Hagrid solves all those issues, it sacrifices a bit of adrenaline but it more than makes up for it.

Hulk is my favorite pure coaster experience, but I find Hagrids to be more exhilarating, due to the bursts of speed- it felt like you were going faster than hulk - and the different ride elements that really change it up. I'm still debating whether mummy is my overall attraction at the resort.

We got a ride featuring the elusive "invisible track". We were in line when it broke down (surprise... not). We stuck around and eventually got our ride long after the park had closed. It was sunny afternoon when we entered the building and pitch dark and many of the park lights off when we rode. I don't think we could have gotten a darker ride and the track was difficult to see. Quite a different experience from riding during the day when you can see the next turn coming. Yes, in February 2020 it is still the worlds most unreliable coaster. My advice to everyone is to visit the restroom before getting in line because you may be there for a very long time.

Even now, almost half a year later, both times that I was at the park recently the ride had been delayed for at least an hour during the day. to be completely honest though, it’s understandable. With the amount of special effects and ride mechanisms it’s hard to believe that they are able to run this ride every single day. It’s a real feat! Also, if you want more airtime I would recommend sitting in the sidecar. I don’t know why but I personally feel like you can move a little bit more on the Sidecar, and it has a little bit less of a (for lack of better terms) chained down feeling. I didn’t hold onto my lap bar for most of the ride and even some of the banked turns give me quick airtime. I can’t say for sure though, when I rode on the motorbike I was holding onto the handles the entire time, so maybe if I wasn’t holding on I would’ve experienced the same air time. EDIT: I never knew the purple button existed...is there some cars without it because I never remember seeing one...
