Hi, just today we noticed the wall and medicine cabinet in the downstairs bathroom was wet. Discovered that there is a leak behind the Wall in the upstairs bathroom somewhere above the tub I can’t see exactly where the water is coming from. We are part of an condo association and the bylaws indicate we own everything from the paint on the walls out and they are responsible for everything else including drywall so technically this leak inside the wall is on them. So my question is that being part of a condo association with bylaws that state the owners are responsible for everything inside the paint and the association is responsible for everything outside the paint for my understanding the association would be responsible to fix this damage but how do we incorporate our insurance company into this? Should we call the insurance company first to file a claim and then have the association come out and make the repairs? What would you recommend our strategy would be in the situation? One thing that I want to mention too is that we noticed that there was some soft wood inside where the leak was located which gives me the impression that the leak was a lot longer than we thought it was so I didn't know if that was going to look like long-term damage or not and if so what would our best strategy be for that.

I had leak from upstairs neigbor toilet bend pipe they said I had fix it then deal with lawyers and building payed for repair . Today I got leak behind my kitchen pipe riser main pipe inside wall management came fixed it and saying I have to pay for it because it's in my unit and my kitchen cabinets damaged and leaked from 5 floor to 2 floor and not sure if need open claim or what but the leak is fixed never buying condo again too much headache not mention laying 700 month maintenance

My fridge was leaking water, I thought that is was a pipe inside the wall and plumber broke wall just to find mold. Will this be covered? if yes, will my fridge be covered?

I just had my hot water tank leak. I’m in a third floor condo, so there is damage to the people under me. Water Restoration people came and things are drying now. My concern, it was a rental, there has not been a tenant for 60 days, but I’ve been at the unit everyday as we are redoing the bathroom. So no one was in the unit when the leak started, I was alerted when my neighbor called about water pouring into his laundry room. Any advice? I’m slightly nervous they will give me an issue bc no one was home.

In respect to your homeowner insurance, you have to tell the. This was a sudden leak poured into unit below, period! Does your insurance know this is a rental?

@@TwinHomeExperts yes I was totally honest and let them know the situation. They covered my damage only, and my neighbors insurance covered their own. Happy that is behind me, but I felt really bad. My neighbors were so understanding!

Had a back up from washing machine that caused back up water to flow out of all the toilets upstairs. Plumber came out and snaked a blockage in the upstairs main line. This was definitely not a wear and tear and was abrupt. Well this be covered? Thanks for your help.

And black mold everywhere my under my sink the base the wood covering that is warped as well as the walls moldy and ripped out wall under the sink exposing the wall exterior behind my pipes and damage I can see outside right through my kitchen sink cupboard underneath right out the hole

Kitchen cabinet pre loss conditions. If that kitchen lower was damage did you get the entire kitchen cabinets redone?

This depends on a few factors. was it sewage loss? Who is handling your claim? what type of cabinets? how big was the leak? etc..

@@TwinHomeExperts regular water from water line behind wall. Soaked entire base kitchen . they saved the face and drawers however 1 whole lower they had to demolish everything except the drawer and cabinet. My kitchen is 2 rooms with 150 total cabinet set including granite. Insurance wants to give me 10k for missing cabinet. My problem is how will a new cabinet match the entire set once painted and sanded?

If they cannot match perfectly then they are obligated to put it back to its original state. dont settle for less.

You delete valuable information I post because you dont know what the hell you are talking about with insurance. You don't know what is covered or not covered and I explained it to the audience. You left out the most important things that are covered. Long term damage is covered if it considered "hidden damages" or "residual damage". You should explain yourself better.
