Pretty generic content. No real value add. Discussion didn't get into break up of 7-8 funds or a model portfolio. For example, Samina kept asking about flexi and multi caps. The guests were just deflecting the question. Basically advisors want to recommend large, mid, small cap funds (more funds) instead of flexi caps so that they can earn more and keep churning funds. They also deflected the question of multi asset fund - whether to go with multi asset funds or invest separately in gold, debt, arbitrage etc. Similarly total expense ratio (TER) is useless as nav growth/ returns are net of TER. Return comparison addresses that. Would have been good to hear number of funds by Domestic equity - flexi caps or cap specific, sectoral International equity Multi asset or separate by debt, Gold etc. Short term corpus in arbitrage, ST debt etc. And so on

Multi asset funds don’t have a history of performance across cycles hence it’s difficult to recommend only the bases of tax advantage, also in our analysis a concentrated market cap strategies have done well over flexi cap, we recommend allocation to gold

Flexicap or Multicap funds covers all Caps, sectors and themes. Their performance is entirely dependent on the Fund manager / AMC. Their portfolios vary and hence performance also varies. Everything depends on the stock picking skills of the Fund Manager. So diversity into 6 to 10 funds in case of Flexicap and Multicap funds.

In my view if all funds are overlapping with others there is no harm overlapping with > 50 funds 😂

7-10 funds is a joke , why not just buy Nifty 500 Index and leave. Funny to see people are coming on TV and joking about it

True that but 500 is predominantly large cap heavy hence the best would be to buy nifty 50 nifty next and midcap 150 etf equal weight
