I'm 28 and have always used proper grammer thoughout my adulthood. The only time I use improper grammer or emojis is for commedic effect, usually for the irony. Also, jokes on you I don't DM or talk to people. Public comments only because then no one responds and I don't feel like I have to hold a conversation lol

omg. i'm definitely that type of person who does not want to hold a conversation. I think we're twins.

I know not who you are, but this lovely recording is interesting. In middle school, when I was first given a phone, it struck me just how annoying it was that others my age didn't type with the best grammar. Sure, slang and abbreviations were fine, but I made an effort to actually, formally get everything right-- the neat part? It was solely on principle, but friends and random people actually evolved their texting after a while. Capitalizing, full words, complete sentences. It definitely wasn't just me who inspired that, but it was nice to see the change, and coherence increase. Lol I tend to be formal in even casual zones, but after a while the humor gremlin will arise, wild and illogical in its ravenous hunger for comedy. IT HUNGERS FOR HA-HA! Much like you, I only recently started to use emotes consistently (mostly as responses on messages to reduce typing, say at work). It's surprising how older folks type like younger ones... then again, they probably don't care anyway, which is fair. That said, this almost diary-entry style audio is pleasing. It reminds me of logs in games, i.e. BioShock or The Division, wherein characters just share their thoughts. Personal, intimate, but at arm's length; poetic, and human. Glad this popped up in my feed. You earned a new subscoober. 💚 Be safe and have a good day, everyone. (P.S., I turned off autocorrect last year because it's just... so unhelpful lol)

I use to write "normally", but when I talk to others online, I like using some slangs and abbreviations to avoid looking like a grammar elite and seem more accessible, just like a dude wearing casual clothes looks less intimidating than a clean man in pressed tuxedo Idk how I'd write if I were to start DMing girls, like "hey wanna hang out" feels really cringe, but I'd probably rather be a cringe introvert like "Uh hi, I noticed you from wherever and I just wanted to say your personnality is really comforting to me" _I wouldn't go near to "I like you", already sounds too close to straight up "ok I'm here for bootey"._ Also as a musician, when people say "wow you played great", it doesn't mean sht. The real compliments are when they say what *they* liked of *my* performance, like "the way you do rubato really caught my soul" or "I really enjoyed the mood you set when playing", and I try to apply this whenever I wanna thank someone for giving me a good time No asking for personal detail cuz even though it starts being overthinking, I think I'd feel more respected if someone didn't straight up ask me my age and stuff And then I'd most likely write a couple more introvert overthinker paragraphs like "I'm sorry to importunate you and you probably have more important things to do of your time, but idk, I feel like sometimes, receiving compliments can hit in the right spot when life gets rough. You can just ignore this if you..." and they'd block me before reading the end hahaha

Like the skill to "read the room" really applies to the online world. You do not have to be so proper but you should know when to. I remember when I started as musician and I wanted to have channels promote, I would send proper emails. Then I realized that there are people out there who have asked me for collabs with the email: bro, you want to collab? and I'm like ................... DMing is tricky to be honest. Maybe I'll talk about that in a future video because truthfully, a lot of girls do not want to speak to you unless you are willing to give them money or you are popular and hot. I have tried dming girls just to ask for random stuff like "cute dress, where did you buy it?" and I have gotten ignored -cries- So I know it's definitely harder for guys.

I've noticed ive also started using emojis more as well and i think its due to the loss of nuance in written conversation over the internet. Who knows. Maybe i'm just getting old.

On the girl prospective they could definitely tell that you're a girl right away. As you can tell the age from the way people type, there's something about girls typing that's different from how boys type. If I remember correctly jubilee did a video on that. But! Let us know how it turns out if you really do it!

Even excluding the stereotypes of girls texting, it's usually extremely obvious. It almost never changes the way I interact with people, though.

I'm pretty anal about insisting on the Oxford comma and other basic punctuation rules. I'm in my 50s but am pretty sure I'd been a hard ass about punctuation since my teens. 🤷‍♂️
