I swear every time I see a new pallet I think the colors are so pretty and it would make such a great set. I think I like collecting new sets more than painting.

LOL! I love that! As long as you use them what's the harm in a new set? :)

Painting and Collecting Art Supplies are two different hobbies. Enjoy them both! ;-)

I call it Color Therapy. Fabrics, threads, paints...........it's all Therapeutic so it's okay.

Hi Alisha, I created a a similar set from tubes and half pans. If you want to expand your pallet, the middle section do fit Winsor and Newton half pans sideways but they have to be from W&N range because they are smaller than the regular half pans. I use my cotman half pans and I fit 37 watercolors. Enjoy your beautiful set! Maria

THANK YOU! you brought me back to my 1st professional tin of watercolor. I remember being blown away with the creaminess, the intensity of the colors, the joy! Mine were Paul Rubin because of the pink tin. Still love that tin. Have fun! Deb on Montana

I’m too much of a pallette collector . Which explains my next question. Where did you get that green cabinet???? it looks perfect for art supplies
@Yokeandabundance2 ай бұрын
Oh my gosh! The cabinet was my dad's and I refurbished it and spray-painted it green. It had been a grey color. It took a long time but was absolutely worth it! kzbin.infofeY9l-7Tkss?si=rze1l8orkhQZFONX

When I switched to professional paints I found it difficult to not pick up too much pigment, a little goes a long way. I’ve gradually created my pallet by buying tubes, but this set has been on my wish list. I hope you get many, many hours of enjoyment with this set

I little does go a long way. I've already used this with a few commissions and I'm over the moon about them. I don't feel like I can go back!

May I ask which brand of professional paints you bought? I have had an issue with some in that way, especially when starting out. Winsor and newton are a good brand of that's an issue for you as they are very clean and transparent.❤

@@kathyhackney7950 These are Winsor and Newton. I'll always note it in the description like I did for this video. I hope it was useful.

@@kathyhackney7950 I had some Van Gogh and Rembrandt to start with but have expanded my set to include some Windsor and newton professional and a couple of Daniel smith. I’m getting better with my pigment and water control

You can glue the labels to the paper and swatch it next to the label. You get all the pigment, lightfastness and transparency info.

i feel like bargain watercolors like artistro are mostly for starters and like. no-pressure paintings in cheaper paper. as you said, they probably are a little useless when diluted withg too much water. professional watercolor paints are way better.

Do you spray your paint down before using? I'm really a newbie, and just subscribed. I like your teaching method.
@Yokeandabundance2 ай бұрын
So glad that you're here! With this Winsor and Newton paint I don't feel like that's really necessary. I've never done that and have not had a problem. Hope that's helpful!
@JannekeVisser-h8cАй бұрын
I definitely spray mine! Makes life easier. I use student grade: Cotman and Van Gogh (which is better than Cotman but has a similar price here).

Selling your art? Then invest in professional watercolors. A world of difference in lightfastness. The better your watercolors, the better your results. Key also is high quality watercolor paper. Paper is the foundation of your painting. I like Arches or Blick Premier watercolor sheets. When I buy watercolor sheets, I can tear them down to size I need. I have given away my inexpensive watercolors and now work with professional watercolors like Winsor Newton, Holbein, M. Graham, or Daniel Smith. Inexpensive watercolor paper can be used for card making, drawing, pen & ink. If you are low on funds, invest in a mixing set sold by all major professional brands. With these primary colors, you can mix soooo many other colors. Most artists like a limited palette anyway because they never use all the colors in a large pan set. Have fun!
