The whole reason Kurt played cheap, used student guitars was because that's all he could afford to get from pawn shops as a teenager. Selling his signature guitar at such a high price point feels a bit insulting to his legacy. I feel like he'd want it to be more accessible so that other misfit kids looking for an outlet for their emotions could have a decent, affordable instrument to do so with. Would've been a nice nod to his humble roots to make it a higher-end Squier model, or more in line with the cost of the MIM player Strats. Well, at least we still have decent budget options like Bullet Mustangs and Epiphones. ...In Bloom.

@@jonstephenson100 Cheap guitars have never been as good as they are today! There's never been as many options - guitars, stomp boxes, multi-effects units... It's a great time to be a guitar player. But you have a great point. Why are vintage guitars from the 50's and 60's so popular/expensive? Why do Fender and Gibson keep on reissuing models from those era's (VOS, R9's, NOS, relic'd guitars etc)? Because the kids who grew up watching their heroes play those instruments are now older and have the money to spend.

I had a 95 Jagstang, added a JB Junior in the neck, and a Dimarzio X2N in the bridge. I flipped the stop bar so the strings were straight pull not pulled over it, and locked it down with washers. I wired the wiring so the neck and bridge switches acted as on, off and coil tapped and then shortly after I finally figured out the final mods wiring and got it done, I lost her to a fire in 2016. But for a month or two she sounded pretty much exactly how I wanted her and apparently was very similar to how Kurt had his guitar modded (I did pick up flipping the stop bar from something I read saying he did that) Only issue with that setup is the X2n is such a beast that it sounded awful if I would get it in normal setup distance from the strings, it had to be backed way off on the height to stop it from sounding clunky.

I have been wanting one again for awhile but as a lefty I was not going to pay what people were asking on eBay. So yeah I pre ordered a blue one. I feel it should have cost 75% of what it did, included a hardshell case, and the quality control is not what I'd expect for $1300 The tone knob does NOTHING. I'm sure my old ones didn't have that issue, compare it to a new Japanese mustang I snagged - tone knob works. Seriously, I cannot tell the difference even turned from one extreme to the other. Yeah, them frets are sharp. And not blaming Fender specifically, but I have bought a returned Mexican Strat the Cobain Jaguar, and now this guitar...and it's like they steal the MFing trem bars for lefties. Finally, I know it'd not a fair comparison but compared to my Jaguar, these pickups are ARSE. I will live with the sound, I'm not a professional and I don't have time to play a lot of guitar so yeah I bought it to collect it because I can.

I'm just learning to play electric guitar, and I just bought a new Jagstang tonight because of the smaller neck. I had a Stratocaster, but was having trouble with the larger neck. I'm getting a weird buzzing problem at the guitar's amp connection. Some kind of grounding issue with the bridge. I received no book or whammie bar on mine from the Guitar Center store I bought it from. I think I'm taking it back. Paid $1299 here in the US. That's too much to get amp feedback when I really just want a classic electric guitar with a shorter, smaller neck for small hands. Thanks for the great review video. I'm more of a blues/classic rock girl. The versatility seems interesting, though I'm not a huge Nirvana fan. Any ideas on a better choice to look into for a small grip? In bloom.

I overheard Joe Satriani pronounce it basswood as in the ...well, fish, so that's his in bloom take on how to say it, at least. 😉😁

I bought it as soon as it came out in red and exchanged it for the blue one. As a lover of the short scale I like it very much. A tuning fork of good wood, with good inlays and thinner than normal. The pills sound great and the body small and comfortable. For me a great guitar. Too bad the price, something raised to be MIM

I would normally go for Sonic Blue which why I went for Fiesta Red but it is not QUITE red enough for me.

Well if you got small hands and the tone is not plinky thin, then it's worth the price.

Love the guitar but that is crazy money!!!!!! Just picked up a PRS 20th Anniversary Model for the same price 😆

@@TheGuitarGeek Aye, I got very lucky!! Kinda hard to turn down when someone effectively puts it in your lap for a week and says... dya want it? 😆 However... bet it doesn't play lithium quite like that one can! 🤣🙌🏼

cool. Years ago, i lived on a street where a garage band played,,,,sorta like i did in the '80s. Drive by a load in and a kid has a red JagStang. Cool but wore out their welcome. Sad. They were just starting to sound good. Me, Sq Jagmaster. More Robben Ford land.

I have worn out my welcome in a few garages in the past!

Hmm... I don't think there should be any fret sprout in bloom at that price point. Hopefully that's just a fluke.

I think so. I don't see anyone else complaining about it.

Im a huge Nirvana Fan and a guitar nerd bjt the jagstang is just not for me. Rather going for a jag or mustang.

I am just about to work on the jaguar vs jagstang and maybe build a vandalism strat too

No in bloom for me. I have the money but can't spend it on that. I'd much prefer the jag but again the price is something I can't do

The thing that disappointed me was the fact that it was freaking orange and NOT RED 🤦♂️

Get the Jaguar instead. Kurt never played the Jagstang, he didn't even *like* it! This "re-issue" is the wrong shade of red, is lower quality than the MIJ one, and that price tag is *insane*. I'll give it this. that's Kurt's sound. But the Cobain Jaguar is that and more. It's a perfect Jaguar, it has the Rhythm circuit, two Dimarzio's, a US made deluxe hardshell case, and is just a little more money.
@TheGuitarGeek2 жыл бұрын
I have a video coming up of that comparison (hint: in principle i agree with you)

@@TheGuitarGeek very cool, sorry I only just saw this today. It just feels like a gouge from Fender. I owned the MIJ version in the late 90's, and while it was my baby, it's *not* a great guitar. The Cobain Jaguar is simply amazing.
