A cheap siphon from Harbor Freight pulled the fluid out for me through the dipstick tube. No need to drop the pan.

Does your trans have an internal filter? You have to remove the pan to change those, right?

Glad to hear you're back in the road! This got the car drivable for the rest of the year. Some of the slipping issues came back so a rebuild over the winter is in order

My transmission was slipping a few months back so I put a bottle of lucas in and then last week I changed the filter and fluid and put another bottle of lucas transmission fix when I replaced the fluid and its shifting even better now. As long as you get to it early enough whats the harm of trying. But you have to be realistic about it.

I did siphon hose into a 24 oz bottle then put rubber tube around lucas bottle tip and squeeze till plastic tube was full then cracked bottles cap to allow additive to drain down tube faster since it's very thick

Can help in some cases. You won't know if you don't try. Otherwise..replace transmission or the vehicle. It's not real complicated. Helped mine shift smoother. Helped a couple of friends out also. Years ago. Still on the road. My friends just added without even removing anything. Crazy Is know..but aga ok n..still rolling years later. One of those wouldn't even move (level was fine...so no need to go there). I dropped pan, replaced filter, refilled with 24 oz of Lucas and topped off with maxlife (2000 Lexus rx 300 with 210000 miles) that car is still rolling 3 years later. I just wanted to see if it could shift smoother, and it just got better and better over time.

A few others have also said "just add without draining some". In an emergency situation I'd probably just pour it in too! For this car though, a transmission rebuild is in its future

I'll probably use this to help me get my old Mustang to the trans shop, a lot of slipping from 1-2 and 2-3. 3-4 works normally. Watched another video where it was tested and it got very thick a low temps(only downside noted).

I mean, this stuff is meant for transmissions that ate about to slip or have already started slipping a little bit. Ive had great experiences with this stuff but for trannies that are absolutely gone, this stuff wont do anything to fix it

i used it on a Nissan Maxima with 202k as part of a 3x3 slow flush ( change it 3 times with 1-2k miles between each one, and add seafoam just before last drail-fill) yah it helps but did not solve the P0744 TCC issue. but made it drivable. its been going for about 30K miles now. Yah I know one day its going to stop working. its out of the question to do a trans rebuild or install used tran. its a 2001 maxima with also a rear main seal leak. it seems like every 6 months something goes on it. I either fix it myself or just ignore it ( if you can ) yah Lucus is good on older transmissions . the newer electronically controlled it will not help a bad solenoid pack.

Another traditional fix for a tranny that's just beginning to slip is to add a 4oz. bottle of limited slip additive (meant for clutch-type differentials).

You could always try it, but by the sounds of it, It might be too far gone. If it can barely drive, it sounds like the damage is already done.

I used it yesterday on my 07 Maxima. I believe the idiot part of me, kept forgetting to add transmission fluid to my car. I put the fluid in. Drove the car for 15 mins and it felt about 65% better. I called Lucas today and we both agreed, if the engine came back hot....then add some quarts of CVT Transmission Fluid. I added about 3 today. Now if the 3 quarts (will add more later) and Lucas can save me money until the "ECONOMY" lets up, so I can buy another car = Then this stuff can be considered a God Sent

*FOLLOW UP* I love my car, very very much. After this post, my car "did jerk" hard a few good more times. KZbinrs mentioned, HEAT is the enemy of your transmission. So for the temporary moment, I drive my car "locally". I don't even warm it up, I just back out and drive with low speed limits. In gear 2, the car jerks. Then it turns out, it's JUST NOT GEAR 2. So the best I can do. Drive it within 35-40 mph....ease off the gas when it wants to hit gear 2 and then put my foot, back on the pedal. I will indeed need to get a transmission expert, very very soon. After the 10th of this month, if the mechanic tells me for sure I need to replace the transmission. I'll only have the choice of either a used/rebuilt 1 or a new transmission from Nissan which will cost higher. EITHER option is better then spending 29K for a car that's worth 20K at most.

I used lucas on my 1991 grand marquis, when it had trouble shifting.I ended up delivering pizza, for for years. 18 deliveries per day average. 27 on a Friday and Saturday night. 38 deliveries, on Super Bowl.I ended up selling it 15 years ago, working fine. Lucas is the best. I use Lucas injector cleaner, on my 2007 Honda Civic EX. 👍

I used it in a 2001 Dodge ram 46re that when it got hot it would not shift into 2nd until 3000 rpm put this stuff in and it shifts perfect now. so now i dont need to change the any part right now.

Because we didn't have one and didn't want to buy one. Technically, the bottle says you can just add without draining fluid but we didn't want to have the case over-full

1:58 - If you continue to read it says you do not have to drain any transmission fluid, but you can add the entire bottle to your existing fluid. Not sure how that won't cause a problem, but that's what it says on the bottle. ALL SAID, I tried the Lucas Transmission Additive as well and my transmission stopped slipping. AT THE END OF THE DAY THOUGH, this additive cleaned and freed sticking parts at best, OR acts as a fantastic temporary fix at worst. It buys you time. If you have severely worn internal parts, eventually, you'll have to either get another transmission or have your old transmission rebuilt.

I drive a 2003 Chevy Tahoe Can I add the bottle of lucus in my transmission if it's showing full on the transmissions dip stick and also should I drive the my vehicle and get it warm then add it in the transmission? Thanks Alot and god bless 🙏

You can add the bottle to a transmission showing full on the stick. The C4 trans has a smaller pan/case capacity that newer vehicles and we thought it would be best to drain some fluid in our situation. You could probably add a full bottle and be fine on your Tahoe. I would definitely have the trans fluid warm and engine idling when adding the transfix. I hope it helps!

The transmission ended up needing a rebuild. We got a few more cruises out of it but the slipping came back. It needed a refresh after 50 years of service.

You can always try and see what happens. It essentially swells the gasket. It can only do so much. Sometimes gaskets just need to be changed.

Over filling transmissions should be avoided. The fluid gets airated if it's too full

Most transmissions can handle 24oz extra of fluid. It says on the bottle if you need more than 1 bottle to drain some first. But most transmissions can take an additional 24oz without any issues.

I just bought a 2007 Cadillac DTS with 100, 000 miles on it. The transmission was shifting really rough, especially when cold. It literally slammed into reverse in the morning when backing out of the garage. I added a full bottle of Lucas and within 10 minutes of driving the transmission was shifting better. Now after a week it's shifting better than any vehicle I've ever owned, new or used. The stuff is amazing.
