Underwhelming at first given all the type. But let it sink in. I couldn't sleep on Christmas night. Eventually your brain will succumb to the novelty that could eventually make this movie a true horror classic.

Slight correction-Werner Herzog directed Nosferatu the Vampyre. Nosferatu in Venice was directed by Augusto Caminito (with Klaus Kinski contributing footage of himself meandering around looking constipated) in 1988

After reading Dracula twice, I found that this particular Nosferatu fit the description given to Dracula in the novel. The wolves, the ambiance, Hutter being held prisoner in the castle, and Hutter being fed off of draw from (and cut through) a great deal of the text found in 400 pages. The fact that this Nosferatu has a mustache the way the novel describes him was fresh to my expectations. I say, two 👍 👍 and 10/10. But that's a first impression. As a seasoned horror film fan, I will say this is the first time in 16 years that I've "jumped" in fear. This movie has the goods. Well done, Herr Eggers!

I saw picture of him, the movie is not out in UK yet but I don't mind spoilers. And yes I do like his look, it's true to the era he was from which is XVI century, obviously Transylvanian noble which was part of Hungarian Kingdom. He looks like Undead Voivode from Central Europe.

I prefer watching Robert Eggers' films with subtitles on. With his use of accents and old English, it's helpful. I thought Coppola's Dracula was a much better film as Nosferatu's characters had zero emotional impact on me, and the moments of emotional impact fell flat

No, it doesn't live up to the hype. It's silly, overblown, and not as inventive as many will you yo believe. I thought it was pretty dull and adds nothing new or fresh to this story. The Murneau original has a new nightmarish quality that neither Herzog or this one surpasses. The Herzog film was more subdued and had a few effective moments, but this one is laughably up its own ass. I was either rolling my eyes or chuckling at several points while watching this. The performances are so campy and over the top that I was getting flashbacks to the Coppola Dracula. At times I thought it was turning into one of those cheap possession movies. Even Wilem Defoe did little to bring any life to this miserable experience. I was hoping that it was going to do something different, especially with the design of Orlock, but they wisely keep him in the shadows for most of his screen time, and when we do finally do see him it's pretty underwhelming and uninspired. Thankfully it's fading away pretty fast and I'll soon forget that I even watched it. The jump scares made me laugh. This was shit. Bat shit to be precise.

Ugh, thank you. Someone finally saying it… I was quite disappointed and I love Eggers. It was technically beautiful but I was never gripped by it and the horror scenes just made me cringe (Depp’s performance just annoyed me) and I even laughed at the ending. I thought maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood (even tho I’ve been looking forward to this movie for months) or I was mourning the film that I wanted and hoped for…. But no, this was a let down.

6/10. Great production values. Would have worked supremely if it had been SILENT. And 40 minutes shorter. Skarsgård's voice was a cross between Willem Defoe's Shadow of The Vampire and Tom Hardy's Bane. Prove me wrong. The moustache and FULL FRONTAL. Why? This Nosferatu has no humanity. This review is dreck. People at the screening I was at LAUGHED out loud 2-3 times and it wasn't due to nervousness, but the hamminess and poor scripting.

I remember seeing Bram Stockers Dracula in the early 90's directed by Francis Ford Coppola , I like that movie a lot better .. Eggers Nosferatu was a good film , and I dug it , It was worth the watch and time involved .. the vampires death scene was interestingly done.. but it was not a perfect movie in any way , it was not a 10 out 10 as some people are saying . The good of it was the Vampire , The Vampire looked great , sounded great , felt great all around , and a lot of those shots were fantastic .. and the sound was awesome .. its a well made film .. it was an attempt to make a piece of moving art , and I would say he almost achieved that .. The bad of it was the lighting , way to dark at times , and kind of foggy , and yes I get the whole ambience and atmosphere thing , but I have been to Burning Man 18 times since 2005 , some of those shots looked like they shot them in the middle of a dust storm that was going on outside .. The Ugly of it was Lilly Rose Depp , wow they need to hand her 2 Oscars for best over acting in a feature film .. She was absolute annoying and horrible threwout , people started laughing in the theater at her performance at times by the end , her performance was cringeworthy .. Lily Rose Depp is a perfect example of how casting the wrong person in your film can literally ruin things ..
