as soon as a puppy is ready for the outside world, you can train it's blatter without a crate, a crate is fine if well used and not used for locking up a dog when you dont wanna interact with it.

My dog has a designated table with a huge comfy pillow and old sleeping bag and a thin blanket over the table with a small slit for oxygen and light

I wonder how peta feels about vets using crates...I mean they use them a lot in their practices...sometimes for days on end.
