Both Pastor K and Pastor Mildred are CORRECT, they present different aspects of it, where Pastor Mildred shows us what some people “prefers” and there’s really nothing wrong with that but as Pastor K puts it, it can become a problem if a person doesn’t know what actually “matters” in the long run. We shouldn’t sacrifice what matters over preferences, but we should be attracted to our spouse at the same time as well, I do believe that even if our spouse may not be 100% exactly what we want in our minds, when we desire to do things God’s way He’ll renew our mind as Pastor Mildred said…He can help us to see what’s really important and when we open our hearts to the opportunity, it’ll build up attraction towards our spouse. Plus having friendship and getting to know the person intimately for who they are has a way of breaking down the preference wall when someone is rigid, and when you’re sure that God is The One Who has presented this person, it’ll help you to be patient and willing.

Hello, here from Eswatini. This is a great topic! I learned from my husband that it does. Although growing up I didnt know what that meant... to be attractive. The bible does mention looks as a component of the characters in it . For example Leah and Racheal. However, not all beautiful or handsome people are God fearing and the bible says its a Gid fearing person (not good looking) person is to be praised.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Although I'm not sure that physical attraction is a social conditioning. If so, how do you explain a baby liking one food and disliking another? Even my puppy has it's preferences. I think we are all built with in built preferences. Having said that, that's not the all and be all of a relationship.

I think it is selfish to 'force' people to want you the same way you want them. You could only put yourself in the spotlight and talk to God about it. if you are a Christian. I have always wanted a close relationship with my wife as far back as 17yeaers ago in secondary school even if it's just casual dating but It didn't work, we went our separate ways different institution but somehow, we started to talking at some point after school but I realized she can't date me about 11 years ago but 3 years ago we both had break up from our previous relationships I re engaged my conversations and she realized I have grown to be her Ideal man. She now cherished and loved me ( plus Time factors) it's a beautiful decision for us she has been my spec ever since and now she has a better character than what I could have gotten then I'm also now better physically, financially, spiritually and characterwise . Atimes we need time, Atimes we need to move, it depends.
