If you are new to car care then this series called Seminar Sessions will be an easy "how to" guide on all consumer products and accessories in order to detail your car.
Today's video is all about the differences between polish and wax!
So what is the difference between a polish and a wax? Well it's simple. A polish does NOT offer any protection for the paint. It is purely a gloss enhancement product to gives the paint a deep, wet look gloss.
It's a brilliant product but should always be followed up by a wax that will then protect that gloss.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's nice and simple. They are all machine washable with normal detergents. Just no softeners or conditioners.

I have a black 2020 Ford Ranger, unfortunately it came off a dealer lot so we all know how well they "detail". I have noticed swirls everywhere on the body. After watching both videos and only having the option of doing it all by hand I am going to tackle this process with confidence. Thank you for a great by hand tutorial 🙏

another good session demo, Ultimate triple deck combo, very hard to beat. i use all 3 products on my Outback with a CG Hex-logic orange hand applicator with u/compound, white hand applicator with u/polish and black hand applicators for u/wax, just takes a bit of time to do the whole car (just as long as its not a sunny day). 😎

Meguiar’s has a “Mirror Glaze” series polish with a grit rating from 0 to 12. Very helpful. For marketing purposes they have added Ultimate, Ultra, Scratch Remover. Its the same stuff just in fancy bottles.

Nice! I recently waxed my 2013 Lexus GS 350 with the Liquid Ultimate Wax and it looked shiny before the damn fires 🔥 out here in California. Now my car is covered in ashes 😂 Next I’m gonna wash it, clay it, use some compound for surface scratches, polish and wax it.

Hi guy's, Thanks for explaining the polish/wax difference, will be getting some gold class soon as I have an older car. Can you show some comparisons from older cars and paint. For example I have 158,300 mile Volvo, as most companies show recent cars that are 1/3 years old or have had custom resprays.

Hi meguiars! I have been using ultimate quick detailer on the past months. I am very happy with the results and I am now ready to apply car wax. Is it compatible quick detailer with hybrid ceramic wax? Or I should go with liquid wax to keep the same line of products? Thanks a lot!

There is no Mirror Glaze Ultimate Polish so not sure exactly what product you are referring to. If you are referring to the Ultimate Polish yes, although primarily polishing oils to enhance shine it does have very very mild abrasives that would also help remove minor defects in the paint while you polish.

Right now I'm using the Ultimate Compound on a 52 year old Honda Trail 90 (red), then I'll use Ultimate Polish, then Gold Class paste wax. Question: Anything you would do different ? I apply the Ultimate Wax and seems it takes forever to set. Ive used the swipe test. And smears i usually let it set for fee hrs. Took a whole day.

Which wax do you recommend for a white car, Gold Class or Ultimate? I have both, I always thought Gold Class high carnuba was best on dark colours. I struggle to get white paint to pop. I have corrected the paint with Meguiars DA compound.

I would actually recommend our 3 in 1! It has properties within it to help brighten colours like white!

It should be noted that Ultimate Polish works via very fine abrasives, as it's derived from M205 in the professional Mirror Glaze line. Give it a try with a heavier pad for one step polishing, or for fine finishing with a foam finishing pad. Excellent corrective fine polish. It does have a light glazing effect, but it's easily removed with a panel wipe for coating. If following with a Meguiar's wax or sealant, leave the glaze on as it helps the waxes and sealants bond to the paint.

Question : For a light, silver vehicle using Ultimate Wax as the sealant, do you recommend using Ultimate Polish beforehand to maximize gloss, or does it matter for that color? By the way, the vehicle doesn't need compounding. Thanks.

It's absolutely safe to use. If you wanted to try something else maybe the 3 in 1?! It would give you a slightly longer lasting protection as well as will boost the brightness of the white paint!

I got liquid wax for a red car, the bonnet faded to pink, applied the wax, original colour returned for only 10 days, now fading again.

I just restored my parents 12 years old scooter paint with compound, polish, IPA (18%) and i used wax after it. But the paint started to oxidized again after few weeks since i restore it. Does it means that the clear coat already gone? Edit: the oxidized paint only appears on some parts of body panels, but most of them on the front end of the body

If when compounding you are seeing colour transfer on the pad then the clear coat is no longer there.

Dear It’s ok if start with the ultimate paste wax and then with hybrid ceramic and at the end with ceramic detailer with a brand new car to get the best shining or it enough with the ceramic wax and ceramic detailer

Someone is always trying to sell you something. Less is better than more. If your car is brand new, just wash it and use some detailer.

I toss car wax in the trash after 12 months. Lots of chemicles in the bottle. Not certain how these chemicles react to time and temperature variations. Its only 10 bucks.
