i remember this one time i felt like no matter what i did, people just didn’t notice me. i tried everything-confidence boosters, social tips, you name it-but nothing seemed to work. then i found this book, Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, and it completely shifted how i saw myself. it’s not just about being noticed; it’s about understanding the energy you project. honestly, this book made all the difference for me. if you’ve ever felt invisible, you need to read it.

What are animal spirits? Does that mean hope and pray for growth without any meaningful change? Until we fix inequality, we won't see any improvement. These two just want to let the sharks in to extract even more wealth from us...

City Group released a report called Trump 2.0 on january 21st 2025 which references "animal spirit" The term was originally from John Maynard Keynes. I can imagine whatever US lobbyists were at davos, have done the rounds and pushed that phrase and these people cluck like chickens as if hynotised 😂

40 years of "cut taxes and cut regulation" has led the UK into this dire situation. Contrast that to the post WWII growth that was during growing regulations and (relatively) high taxes. Post-2008 austerity was a terrible policy that only the UK followed. Brexit has created years of uncertainty, and thus poor investment, followed by the catastrophe of a hard-Brexit, further deterring investment, followed by Truss's disastrous budget. If cutting taxes and deregulation is the only answer then explain contemporary Nordic countries and post WWII Europe. The only beneficiaries of neoliberalism have been the top 10% and that is fast shifting to just the top 1%.

@ given the tax burden is currently at its highest level ever since WW2, how does fit you ‘40 years of tax cuts’ narrative? Taxes have consistently risen since the 1990s
@robinfaulkner9945

@@plonk7the UK has super high taxes already. It’s driving a diaspora of those who have the means to leave. More taxes is undoubtedly going to bring down the amount of tax collected as the wealthy head for the door. A smaller government with well funded ministries is perhaps the best idea. I don’t know. But more taxes makes no sense
@allykhan8594

From bs to bs. Generally those who can leave are leaving. Contributing to a fair system is one thing, looking after those who have genuine needs is one thing, but being cash cows is ending.

Sit in the back of the bus and whine....or get a front seat with a clear view ! The UK prospered and grew because they "Fought and spoke up...loud and clear" (history is clearly written on this subject for the UK)...Germany is experiencing the same issue. Be passive and liberal (American rejected Biden for this very reason) or "back the hard choices of change"...and that was unanimously "Trump" !! for us..

Labour spent years waiting in the wings. I would have liked to see them seriously deliver on the right messaging and have a plan for attracting business. We are far from "cool britania" There is nothing about reeves and starmer that is cool. It's a joke. And we have NIMBYs throughout this country saying no to every idea. This country is stagnating. Wake up labour!

Could these two be any further down the neoliberal rabbit hole! Better to increase VAT or PAYE, both taxes that hit the poorest and lowest paid the hardest. Where an employer Nic increase of 1.1% is being made into the end of the world. Business has been on a golden pedestal for so long, they have not been paying their way for so long, it’s a shock to them.

What an utterly surreal conversation. If you must insist on using a phrase apparently borrowed from the nearest available stoner, maybe explain what it means right at the start? You know, for the proles in the audience who weren't invited to Davos or wherever this absurd buzzword was spawned.

Sadly it doessn't.make any sense. For example, south east infrastructure whilst Rayner's housing targets show no uplift. In London. They aren't joiming the dots. Moreover.this investment will take 10 years plus to arrive. Liebour's problems are incoming in 2025. A calamitous budget with Rayner's worker and tenants rights just.round the corner is.going.to disimprove.the.short term. Happy to be proved wrong.

Utter pish many countries afford to treat workers with respect and don’t exploit them with zero hours contracts, having emigrated to Australia from the UK we force employer to pay all employees 12% over and above their base salary into a private pension fund, the UK and both of these bean counters on this channel, simply don’t believe in investment….investment in people, investment in infrastructure, investment in growth generators, it is only risk that generated reward and the treasury have for far too long constrained growth and progression

I wish they'd explain what they mean by animal spirits. Do they just mean people spending more money? Everyone I know doesn't have that much money to spend because it's sucked up by high mortgages, rent, bills, food bills etc. I kinda feel that unleashing animal spirits means more debt and richer people getting richer. If I'm wrong about that I wish they'd explain why.

Im to this current Labour governments left... But it's really sad the general pessimistic sentiment everyone has. I would love for all these ideas actually to work. The attitude of general brits being ultra pessimists will be the downfall of the UK. We sadly have to embrace a part of the cringe patriotism the US has and businesses will grow and life will improve for people.

Another London, South-East centric plan. I agree that innovation has lagged in European economies, but runways, new houses, and train tracks aren't gonna boost innovation and launch the next Deepseek, ChatGpt or Tesla...it completely lacks originality and really asks 'how much brainstorming has gone into this?'
