In this video i decided to put Scotts Fertilizer to the test! I used Scotts Max Green for the first time ever and i did before and after updates throughout the process. If your contemplating using just any cheap fertilizer vs. Scotts, watch this video, and maybe it'll change your decision. Thanks for taking the time to watch!!

That's a broadcast spreader you have. A drop spreader has to be used like a lawn mower. You may be able to get the same results using a much lower setting (I think the bag says 4.something)

Looks like you have St. Aug grass. The ratio should be 2-0-1 or 1-0-1 according to both Texas A&M and UF. Except when heading into summer. Last fert before summer should be nitrogen only. During the summer , Scott's lawn response 0-0-4 with micronutrients and iron is a good choice. Scotts fert is like McDonalds. Will fill you up now, but over time lack of nutrients will start to show.

@REALmarktheshark
@REALmarktheshark 3 жыл бұрын
Kinda depends on where you live. I'm in south TX where it's 100 deg all summer long so I water about 3 times a week for 45 min each before the sun comes up! If you're in an area where it's not as hot maybe only twice a week. But it's best to water early morning because the sun can bake off what the grass doesn't absorb. Watering in evenings, can cause too much moisture to sit on your yard and cause fungus.

I immediately water the lawn not for long. I just wanted the Ironite to settled on the ground, my Kentucky Blue grass looks fantastic. @@REALmarktheshark For the crabgrass, you might wanna try Scotts Crabgrass and Weed Preventer. I'm in a southern coastal area too, and we had some spots in our yard that crabgrass would notoriously take over in late spring and throughout the summer. Did some research and came across that product. Put it down in April this year, before the temp started hitting 80 consistently. It's the end of July now and no crabgrass at all. It normally would be thick and hearty in certain areas of the yard and would keep the desirable grass from growing. Note that it's a preventer, so it has to be put down before you start to see the crabgrass and acts as a barrier to prevent it from growing. So it doesn't kill the crabgrass once its grown. So in other words, it might be too late to put it down now (at the time of my writing this), but it's something you can try early spring of next year. And to protect your grass, I'd be sure to only put down the recommended amount. Hope that helps.

@@Semaj.18272 oh ok I see. So if your yard is established but you have a bunch of weeds, I would go with some weed and feed. I would then wait about a month and then you could put something down like the Green Max.

How often did you water your lawn???
@REALmarktheshark
@REALmarktheshark 4 жыл бұрын
I water every other day for about 45 minutes in the mornings only. I also live in South Texas where it's close to 100 degrees from May to Sept lol. Depending on where you live, you may wanna back the frequency to maybe every 2 or 3 days👍

@@REALmarktheshark I am not too familiar with st Augustine does it grow like Bermuda does. I am have a cool season lawn in the transition zone of TN, and my yard has been looking like it has been losing it's dark green color. How often does the bag say to apply the fertilizer and what seasons?
@REALmarktheshark
@REALmarktheshark 3 жыл бұрын
@@jasondonegan2459 yes it somewhat does. St. Augustine is very drought tolerant and look very nice when it get thick. I live in south Texas where it's 100 degrees from mid may to Sept, so I need something drought resistant. We so have coastal Bermuda that grows naturally, but personally I prefer the St. Augustine. I normally just apply once in Spring(right now is perfect time) and maybe once during summer if it needs it.

@REALmarktheshark
@REALmarktheshark 5 жыл бұрын
You can water a little bit in the mornings, but everyday isn't necessary. When you fertilize, just make sure your not expecting a huge rain within a couple day so it doesn't get washed out! Good luck, let me know if you have questions, I'd be glad to help. Im not a professional by any means but I know a few tips here and there. Lol

That's a Burr Oak. It doesn't look good because i filmed this in early spring, but it comes back every year and shades a decent size part of the yard. It's not the best of trees but it's hard to keep trees looking good here because they get beat up by the wind.
