How do sculptors reckon with the buildings that surround their work? Penelope Curtis takes us on a journey along the thin line between art and architecture, looking at Henry Moore and I. M. Pei’s East Building collaboration, Moore’s “Three Motives Against Wall, Number 1,” and Costantino Nivola’s “Widow of Pausania.”
Penelope Curtis is the former director of Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and was the 2021 Edmond J. Safra Visiting Professor at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art.

MOORE got his way too often... much of his work is not site related... its just figurative.

Yes. I don't believe that the issue of placing his great large bronzes in natural or architectural settings has ever been properly resolved.
