If it wasn't for Kyle, I think that I might have become alr-right. Back 4 years ago, I was finding myself as an atheist and starting watching those toxic atheist videos. Those KZbinrs then also started going after Femanazis and I started believing that that was all feminists. The feminists that you have had experiences with are not a representative sample of most feminists, rather it is the ones that are the most outspoken, the most extreme... which is the most likely for KZbin to recommend to you.

I would imagine a lot of 'alt-right' people are more anti-establishment and more anti-SJW than normal conservatives. I could imagine alt-right followers that despise corporate republicans, safe spaces and micro-aggression finding agreement with Kyle. Sure, Kyle criticises Milo and other Alt-Right figures, but that doesn't happen too frequently (not to say that Kyle doesn't cover it appropriately, it's just that these other issues pop up more frequently so they get covered more often). So it wouldn't surprise me that Kyle has an alt-right base, even though Kyle doesn't like the alt-right. There's just some common ground that he covers regularly.

I think the main reason the progressive channels are growing is because more people are getting into politics after thinking "Why the fuck are we stuck with these two?" during the last election and wanted to learn more. Some went to right wing channels and others came to the left.

Some others go with the "News" style of broadcast, or they get too "bleeding heart liberal" where they just react and weep and don't actually discuss the issues, or they get arrogant about their views and mock the idea that someone might disagree with them. I think a lot of your popularity is attributed to the presidential election and the pure factual and rational viewpoint that you have. You are the most objective when presenting the news, you are honest and you are consistent in your beliefs. You represent secularism and atheism, and have more than debunked the idea of atheists being immoral people. The issue is that nowdays some dude interested in Jordan Peterson is labeled as "alt right". I`m kinda conservative and part of you fan base because you are honest and genuine in your believes and not afraid of stepping out of the line, the same with Jimmy Dore. Imo, I think Jimmy and particularly your show, has increased viewership because you're consistent in your beliefs and not partisan. I honestly think you get so many viewers because most people can see you do your very best to be as fair and as objective as possible, and just openly admit it whenever your biased for whatever reason. That's how you get people from across the spectrum to come together for common causes, the way politics is supposed to be played by, of and for the people. And that you actually did what we're all supposed to be doing by getting politically involved and trying to do what you think is best for the planet. I don't think you are not attracting 'alt-right' fans. You are attracting people more on the center (counting myself there as well ) , who might not agree with your on everything, but who appreciate your honesty. Though I also people watch/listen to people who are more on the left ( like TYT, AronRa ) , people more on the center ( Sargon , Sam Harris, Dave Rubin ) , and people a bit more on the right ( like Jordan Peterson) , sometimes even Ben Shapiro ( though that in low doses as he is a bit out of my comfort zone). All of the people mentioned above are vehemently against the alt-right. The sad thing is, when I have discussions on these channels with people more to the left of me , I sometimes get called alt-right ( because I don't want to punch nazi's) , and when I have the same discussions with people to the right of me, I get called 'communist' , 'SJW' , libtard ( because I like the idea of single payer healthcare and free education) So chances are that a lot of people are watching which have been called alt-right, but they are nothing like it. Edit : looking at the dislike count, I guess you do have some alt-right views after all, about 53 of them :-)

I can’t speak for everybody but I feel both shows are more honest when it comes to the faults in the Democratic Party and both shows don’t play into identity politics in the same way shows like TYT tend to do. When Hillary lost both of you seem to understand why she lost and point it out as opposed to others who claim racism and sexism as a default. Zu8 Trump has been a failure in my eyes, I gave him a chance and he's acted like nothing but an establishment Republican in the end. If Trump was smart the first thing I believe he should have done was an infrastructure bill and I would have tried to work with Sanders on that goal. Sanders proposed a plan and Trump never even acknowledged it. If he would have done something like that it would have done a lot to get people on his side and it would be easier to get some other goals done. I am content with my vote though because the people who are the most dangerous are the people who you trust because they can screw you over the worst. Obama is a guy who turned 2 wars into 7 and got a Nobel Peace Prize. Trump is crippled and everyone pays attention to everything he does.

I don't think Kyle knows that a lot of right wingers watch his and Jimmy's show. I'm not so much 'alt right' as right libertarian, but many of us on the right do enjoy Kyle, and even more so Jimmy as a left wing perspective on things.

Google is not dumb, they are right on the money. They know people will click on a video of their topic of interest doesn't matter whether the video is pro or against. As long as the views keep going up, comments, discussions are being generated, they will always win.

I think the growth in comparison is for a simple reason. Sam Seder and David Pakman embody a bit more serious of a persona than you or Jimmy. All of you are significantly knowledgeable but you and Jimmy make things a bit more entertaining. I don't think I've ever heard a curse word come out of David Pakman or Sam Seder's mouth. Both styles are enjoyable but I think the general public prefers the style you and Jimmy have to the style David and Sam have. For example, I'm a Political science graduate student, and when I discuss politics I probably prefer to discuss it and talk closer to the way that Sam and David do, but I still prefer to watch your style of show when I'm not reading. That says a lot. And if I'm wanting to watch a more serious style of news online, it will usually be something like "Democracy Now" as opposed to any talk show.

Ari Epstein I watched Kyle a lot when I first started paying attention to politics. Now that I have watched Sam a while, and started actually reading original news sources more, I see that Kyle is very often lazy in his research, so I don't watch as much these days. The noticeable increase in right wing viewers is also a testament to how he weights his "reporting".

It sucks that his videos have been hit that way, but if you watch his video about making the perfect cutoff shirt he shows the letter youtube sent to him about demonetizing him. A subjective perspective will use truth in one instance and deny truth in another in order to protect and preserve it's self. Objectivity requires one to seek out, understand, except and change ideas because they have identified instances where a person could be misinformed bias or just comfortable. In the age of fanboyism no one what's to admit that they could be wrong or that the group they are a part of could be easily steered down the wrong path. and they definitely have a fear of being an outlier when they are surrounded by people that are lockstep in their thinking. I'm actually really glad you answered this question. I was beginning to wonder if I was or wasn't tripping in the comment section at times. Regardless, I'm independent thinking, but would probably consider myself strongly progressive. I'm for free speech, against over the tope social justice bull, just about progressive ideals. A lot of what politics is about can be blown out of proportion, I wouldn't depend on anonymous (mostly) commenters who mainly post shit just to spart an arguement. I would mostly view conservatism as their original meaning, same or libertarian, and other terms on yourself to what you really are and then try to adjust it to the most modern and commonly expressed definition for that term. Motherfuckers flipped in the Civil Rights Era, we're still fighting for Civil Rights so expect the unexpected when it comes to naming who's who.
