Does... Susie know? | A Deltarune Susie/Noelle Relationship Analysis/Theory!

Hello everyone! today I wanted to talk about If Susie knows that Noelle likes her!
i know it might sound ridiculous but its more plausible than you might think! but to find out you have to watch it first!
All music used is either form Deltarune or Undertale

Oh and I figured id mention this just in case. while I do say a lot of stuff in the video I don't want to come off as "hating Noelle x Susie" or think that them being together is a bad thing! most of what I say in the video is just to get my point across! If it seems like I might hate the ship or dislike the idea of them being together or a hater than that 100% was not my attention to do so. again I don't think I come across as doing so but I could maybe understand someone coming to that concussion based on what I say. to be honest i really don't care for shipping in general not that I hate people that do I just don't really care for it personally. so I really don't care for or hate any ships* and in Deltarune I don't really care for who gets with who.

Susie isn’t stupid or dense… She has self esteem issues, she doesn’t think Noelle likes her because “who could possibly like me like that?” Yknow?

My personal theory / evidence-influenced headcannon is that… Susie likely has an inkling that Noelle is romantically interested- but that Susie is so much more preoccupied w opening up and making friends for (possibly the first time), that she just literally isnt even giving a thought to how she feels about Noelle outside of “oh the kind girl who gave me her pencil”. Susie just doesnt strike me as currently thinking about romance. I could see that changing in her future but she seems a lot more focussed on “epic adventures with Kris and Ralsei” right now.

Regarding the section questioning if Susie likes Noelle back or not, a few sections of Chapter 2 post-cyber world do hint that she's at least on Susie's mind. (Stuffed Alpaca mentions this in his Suselle analysis around 11:40~) If you interact with the Ralsei dummy in Castle Town twice, it prompts this dialogue from Susie. * (If Noelle was here...) * (She'd probably dress it up like a Christmas tree.) * (... Huh? Why am I thinking that, anyway?) So, y'know, I'd consider that evidence that Susie is at least starting to develop a crush on Noelle.

Yeah to be honest I completely forgot about that! I read that like 2 or 3 days ago but really couldn't find a place to really fit it in. it is interesting and I don't think its concreate but its definitely a good point! like I say in my video I don't know 100% if she does but her thinking about Noelle definitely points to Susie thinking of Noelle as a friend at the very least. if not maybe even a bit more than a friend! oh and im gonna cheek out that video!

i believe either she’s simply not interested in her OR simply hasn’t figured it out yet after all kris is her first friend after god knows how long, finally seeing that she CAN make friends? immediately assuming that people would crush on her is highlyyyy unlikely. to someone who believed for so long that she’s unlovable and will never truly make any friends, its very normal to not pick up at all, and its also very normal for her to simply not expect it. despite us having extensive research and ideas about our characters, i think we all know that this is still happening in the span of TWO DAYS, which is very difficult for the characters to instantly change after one day. change comes slowly, maybe susie will figure out one day, but right now i really think that she’s gonna have resolve her personal issues first, make closer connections with friends THEN move onto a relationship (if that is the expected outcome)

I really love the theory that Susie isn't into Noelle. Not that it wouldn't be cute to see them fall in love, but that it would be pretty tragic and real for Noelle's biggest crush to reject her... I'd really love Deltarune to portray romance in a complicated and unsatisfying way. I super doubt it will, but I think it would take the game's themes in an interesting direction.

Found the first person who agrees with me here, yeah I think it would definitely fit for like a chapter 5 revelation where Noelle gains the confidence and ask Susie out only for her to be like “um… no?” And be weirded out or something and then for Rudy to die and have like a big low point for her right before the roaring. I just think that’d be a cool story idea.

@@krisspychissp 100%!!!! There's a few bits of dialogue from Susie in Chapter 2 that suggest she's growing feelings for Noelle. What I'd love is for her to realise that those "feelings" are just her reaction to being properly loved for the first time in her life. She loves that someone loves her, y'know? I think that's an aspect of growing up that isn't explored much in fiction. But I highly doubt it'll be that complicated. I'm pretty sure they'll just fall in love, kiss at the end of the world, etc. Sad...

honestly I think Susie just doesn't think anyone could ever like her in that way, maybe some internal self-hatred :( that's why she thinks it might be a joke or some things "go over her head"

people in the subreddit want her to be aroace for the funny. As an aroace, it's very uncommon sexuality! I don't see it changing the story though, which doesn't imply she's aroace. I believe Susie knows Noelle's crush because sometimes she randomly brings up Noelle, anyone would be thinking about it if someone was acting odd to them.

Susie bringing up Noelle (like someone else in the comments already said) is definitely something of note that I couldn't quite fit in the video. also personally I don't really see sexuality's playing a huge role in Deltarune for the most part more along the lines of "does character A like B character" type of deal you know?

Regarding the whole “no one could be that dense she’s not stupid!” I’ve known people who were pretty smart but didn’t know when their close friend had a very blatant crush on them. Like it was so obvious they liked ‘em but she just never caught on for like months it was kinda funny. Plus, I hate to be that guy but it’s pretty obviously a joke about how oblivious Susie is and I think we’re reading too far into this maybe? Oh plus at least according to tea theory, she likes Noelle as much as she likes Kris, Ralsei, and as much as Kris likes Susie. One more thing sorry for the long comment, but it would be so funny if Susie went “Noelle… I don’t like women.” The deltarune fans would literally perish.

Personally I always thought the gag was that Susie was completely oblivious and thought of Noelle as a friend, I mean I just got the impression that at some future chapter she’d confess and Susie would be like “uh…. No?” And then her dad would die or smth and it’d be sad, but thats just the vibe I personally got from it.

In the Weird Route, when Ralsei asks Susie what happened Noelle's room, Susie insistently denies nothing happened in there. I wonder if this could be meant as indicative of their feelings for one another?

idk why but i feel like i went through something similar to Susie, i wasn't a bully but i had a tendency to... "explode" back in primary and a bit in middle school and one of the main "victims" (btw he knew after the 3rd time [out of 14 times] what he was doing and what it would bring) is currently my best friend and who i get along with the best at school and i may have someone that is into me but that is the least of my concerns currently, my main focus is my cat and my health in that order

I don’t think she “knows” because she might just not be very socially aware :( Susie had moved there recently and everyone had already portrayed her as a bully so she wound up with no friends. It was probably the same where she used to live where she didn’t have many friends or any at all, in chapter 2 when she’s at Kris’ house she said that she hadn’t had one in ages so she probably just doesn’t fully get all social cues and concepts like that, or it’s like what someone else in the comments said where she just doesn’t think she’s deserving of love so she thinks it’s a joke
