Just as some internet dork was about to raise his hand and claim that it doesn't really work, you show 10 minutes of it working, and in some tough rolls that required setup and deception! Awesome!

There is a difference between a move that can work against your students and a move that works on pro level competitors. Since this vid dropped I've been hitting it consistently on less experienced guys but still haven't seen a NoGi Ezekiel, Front-Naked or Punch-Choke at the elite level. @Brandon Mccaghren have you?
@douglasduggerton25 күн бұрын
@@thos1618 At high levels in no gi bjj you see more people going for smother chokes in this sort of position, in the ufc however there has been some success with the punch choke/ezekiel (I know there's a difference, sue me) from Aleksei Oleinik. I don't think it's a REALLY good sub, it's more of a setup that bmac uses to get to his arm triangle game and when he sits one in deep he goes for the finish. The problem with going for these types of subs at a high level is you're giving your opponent a good look at a kipping escape into your legs which nowadays is a death sentence with how good these guys are at the leg game

@DrewDarce4 жыл бұрын
@@brandonmcninja definitely from mount 90% of the time. The mount has become my favorite position in the whole game this year. Sometimes I’ll catch it while passing to mount from top half or a dope mount, but usually I try to make ‘em suffer from mount 1st :P

@@brandonmcninja Whoa whoa whoa, hold on now. I didn't say I could actually get it to work, just that it was one of my 'go to' subs lol. To be fair the details where you've previously described dropping weight back and using head position etc, really upped the % of success, which was very much the same for my head & arm game (at least against other terrible people like me).

@Brandon Mccaghren can you shed some light on why you prefer the NoGI punch choke (grabbing forearm of choking hand) vs the NoGI Ezekiel (RNC choke grip in the elbow)? I hit Ezekiels often, especially in the Gi, but when training NoGI I sometimes don't finish (using traditional RNC grip in the elbow) and I wonder if I should switch to the punch choke. Curious to hear your view. Thanks!
@brandonmcninja4 жыл бұрын
there are several reasons, but to sum it up it's just way easier to hit because of the positioning of my body and of the arms. punch choke is pure blood when you catch it right. ezekiel in no gi is super hard to finish.

Great videos. Please keep up the great works. Question: I am a white belt and a blue belt always play with me by lying down there with both hands covering his neck TIGHT and elbows tugged in front of his chest. I am in full mount. I do not think I am strong enough to get his arms open. What can I do there to submit him? Thank you.
@fastlanenigeria Жыл бұрын
Hi, habe you figured this out yet? I figure using a cross grip to open up the elbows...so your right arm pushing against his left wrist while blocking his left elbow will force a sort of kimura then you can open him up from there.
