Personally I prefer it this way, there so many new designers making interesting bags that actually show off the persons personality. Rather than everyone trying to fit one bag into their style.

I go out most places with my phone, keys, and that's about it. Literally cannot imagine carting around a designer bag stuffed full of crap I don't even need. 😂 Im keeping my collection because everything comes back around.
