I appreciate the footage at libraries and museums. Your channel is more than a “pen, ink and paper” channel…there are plenty of those on KZbin. Your channel is a lifestyle channel that includes pens, ink and paper. It is very inspiring!

I have both the Magna Carta 600 and 650. They are both fantastic writers with great flex. I would take these over any pens I own, including Pelican M1000, Montblanc 146, and Pilot Custom 823. Also love Nantucket Red!!

In the housewares section of the hardware store we’re some butter dishes, I pulled out a pen to check the length - I now have a butter dish on my desk with 3 pens in it.

When you mentioned the cave crickets, it reminded me of when I used to do cave sampling. Sometimes I would be covered by them. I somewhat agree with your thoughts on drugs vs. humor. I never did drugs because I needed to stay vigilant, since my trauma was almost being killed twice. People think my humor is a little too macabre or they take it the wrong way. However, I think my hobbies like writing with fountain pens, growing fruit trees in containers, vintage shopping, and long-distance running are more of my alternative to drugs than my humor. I think in some ways they provide escapism (or just give you other things to do) while enabling you to maintain wits in case death tries to come for you again (or whatever your trauma is about). Hopefully this doesn't ruin the mood of the video. I just thought your comment was interesting.

I have an Interesting take on the Mag 650 and 600. I really don't like the design. I know that's a really unpopular opinion but it really bugs me, because I have used the 600 and the nib with the cute heart shaped breather is absolutely a work of art and even more a work of engineering, the best writing flexible 14k gold nib on the market right now which isn't a fringe hard to find vintage nib. Hearing the new nib is better? Now that'll truly be next level. Doodlebud has a video on it where he has compared the two nibs and found out that the new nib is much better. Now that being said when it comes to the aesthetics of the nibs and ergonomics of the pen, I really don't like it. I absolutely love the beautifully embellished nibs of platinum and sailor pens near this price range, and I generally prefer the curvaceous torpedo and old pelican-esque designs and prefer piston and vacuum filling mechanism easily over the same cartridge converter (Especially at this price point). Pens pretty expensive pens like Magna Carta and Sailor using cartridge converter is really a heartbreaker for me, especially when FPR pens which are much cheaper use piston fillers and twsbi uses vacuum fillers while being so much cheaper. Although I think it may not come to pass anytime soon but I wish Magna Carta made a pen with Vacuum filler in a torpedo design with this nib, maybe with slightly better and more decorated nib with a diplomat or nahvalur like minimalist gold nib, would be my perfect dream pen. I know they are capable of doing this especially when magna carta has made that translucent crystal pen with obsidian black nib which is hands down the most beautiful pen I have ever seen. That day when Magna carta makes that pen I will literally go out and buy as many of them as I can and spend my rest of life writing with them in Diamine, FWP, Endless and J Herbin inks. I will never watch any other pen Video after that because that could not be topped. Nice show as always.

@@HemingwayJones I've thought about it, but so far no one on reddit has tried it. My friend shared the same gripes as I but she won't try it. I don't have one since I almost exclusively use dip pens. When I'm on the move I use hers as shee is a novice in calligraphy. Apparently no one wants to sacrifice their lovely pen to be the first one to find out 😅

I don't like the converter pens either. I almost didn't buy my Pilot 912 because of it, but I wanted the PO nib. I do love the nib and never had a problem with it.

@@robertcalkjr.8325 converters are such a bother when better mechanisms exist, especially in flex pens. Needing to fill your pen just after a page? It might seem a nitpick and beats dip pens but please just let me write while Bach completes his symphony.

Hi Hemingway! Another absorbing and entertaining video! Gotta love those Pelikans!! Re-opened mine last week on my birthday, and wrote for quite a while with it! Sooooooo nice! I DO have a Pilot Metropolitan, it is loaded with Kon-Peki! Of course it is a fine writer. Those Magna Carta pens fascinate me, but don't really know if I want a flex pen. Perhaps if I was able to try one, it would be higher on the list. Tom's Studio is a VERY interesting seller. They are coming out with an INTERESTING dip pen nib soon! Great show, HJ! Sorry that I missed the livestream! I fell asleep... I've been working on the AC in my van. Did you get the letter that I sent to you? If not, I can re-write it. I take photos of the letters that I write just in case they get lost or destroyed in the mail since the letter that I received from Scott was torn open when I received it. That way I can re-write it exactly as the original. I love British comedy! I loved watching Benny Hill in my younger years. My favorite British shows now are: Open All Hours, Still Open All Hours, Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Appearances, and there's a couple more whose names are escaping me at the moment.

I believe fountain pen ink will work. That’s all I use actually. And I’m not a calligrapher so it doesn’t make a difference to me what I use

I purchased the 600 and I have had so much fun with it! It is not the prettiest pen, but the nib is amazing. I looked at 650 and decided the cost was too high for my budget. I look forward to seeing what Magna Carta puts out in the future.

I have a Mag600 that I bought because I thought that it's a pretty pen. But, I dislike flex nibs -- they're so scratchy, and I don't actually care to flex them. Anyone have recommendations for a gold nib to replace the stock nib with?
