This was a very informative episode. Ms. Pandey mentioned that CPI includes services, so I wish both of you had talked a bit about inflation in the cost of services, particularly in the cost of medical treatment. Also, when does the government plan on collecting and using current data for calculating inflation instead of the 2011 census data and why hasn't it done so yet?

Thank you for watching and for your comment! The government had a few years ago rejected the findings of its own Consumer Expenditure Survey saying the quality of the data was not up to the mark. That data would have updated the information till 2017-18, if it had been accepted. The govt has now said it will be doing a new survey with a new methodology. There is no real word on when the results will be out, but it's not likely to be till late 2023 or early 2024. Thank you again for watching and subscribing! - Sharad

How does rate hikes reduce inflation? We had low rates for years with minimal inflation. Appears to be mainly supply issue, which rates will not help, in fact will only increase supplier borrowing costs and will be passed on to consumer.

This inflation is mostly due to supply side.. but yeah rate hikes reduces inflation. . but rate hikes more helpful in case of demand side inflation
