In my country, almost every apartment has "Small furniture trash box" so they throw a lot of electronic appliences and the box will be full within 3~4 days. Sometimes consoles can be in my sight. Mostly PS2 and Nintendo DS lite. Edit: Got a white DS Lite with no chip in the trash can. Works well. And almost new.

Ps2 games with the paystation 2 label on the top look so good and on the cd the playstation 2 label is looking good but the design of my motorsport 4 cd is ruined because the xbox360 has this white and green label on the bottom when the cd is a cool black and red design.

You have to restart the console to get the game to read

if you restart the ps2 whith a disc in it the ps2 will launch the game if the disc reader works. if you put a disk in it while its on the disc should come up on screen if the disc reader works. i have a ps2 so iknow how it works.

@@erichopkins5522 As far as I remember they don't have their own driveboards. You don't have to exchange the entire drive, you could buy a laser unit. It's not worth it though, considering the PS2 sells pretty cheaply. Also speedy could try putting a PS1 game in and check if that one reads.

This was a great tear-down/clean/restore vid. Keep us updated on the drive and if you can get it working! :) I had a PS2 Slim at one time and loved it as it was the last PS version that had backwards compatibility with the original PS. I'd love to have that PS2 Slim back, for sure!

It's interesting what people throw away in the trashcan that may still have some life left in them I myself found a child's table torn apart and found all the pieces to it and put it back together now I use it myself so you never know what you might find in a trash can🤔💡when you go dumpster diving🤔🛎

Just a tip, NEVER place a bare circuit board on a carpet, especially during the winter months when there's low-humidity. ESD (static shocks) can potentially zap and kill IC chips. Ditto with stroking a broom across the board which can create more electro-static discharge, or worse, break off delicate components. I'd stick with a can of compressed air if possible. Don't worry, I doubt you damaged anything, but just a good tip for future repairs and cleanings. BTW, love your channel, I collect, repair and clean vintage game consoles and computers (from all eras), and just love rescuing and repairing console/computer stuff people give up on and throw away. It's just so cool bringing stuff back to life and tinkering with them. And hey, there's something so mesmerizing about watching you search through those bags and boxes, heh, it's like an archaeologist dig! Really entertaining, keep it up!

The Screw you find on the bottom of a ps2 DVD drive laser is a pot resistor which can be adjusted to tweak the laser to a good voltage to read games again flat head screwdriver needed

i actually got a PS2 in a bundle package and didnt know it was part of the bundle and yeah mine was a lot dirtier then that but it still worked and i seen another person on you tube fix a ps2 and it was where the bearing part of where you place your disc as the centre hole of disc, just needed pressure down on it to work so he replaced that and worked with no problems after that.This is my first time post as just subscribed to you and yeah great content to watch mr speedy driver and hope the fat gets to work again after all your work on it.

A fix I used back in the day was that the lasers tend to get dirty to the point they can’t read the game so a q tip with a bit of rubbing alcohol can help clean the laser and get it to read games again.

I love the PS2 logo! I forgot if it was the same one on the slim model. Mine's covered up with a towel to keep the dust out of it. I do that with all my consoles when they're not being used. That way, I just have to wash the towels.
