I think I read a previous meta analysis that says core strength training is superior to schroth ? Is this article more accurate?

Thanks for responding! I dont remember seeing a meta analysis showing that. I think there was one showing no difference maybe. If you have the reference that would be awesome. Thanks!

@AlignTherapyUtah The title is (The effect of an exercise intervention on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: a network meta‑analysis) Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research. I would put the link but I don't think KZbin allow that. They compared multiple ways and weirdly, they ranked schroth in the last 2 . Also yoga was in the first place as it had the best effect.. which is also weird. By the ways, I want to ask you for advice . There is no certified schroth expert in my country. Should I try to learn and do schroth myself or find other type of exercise ( core exercises for example). I'm 21 years old and cobb angle is about 31. Thank you in advance.

What do you think about the terminology ‘idiopathic’ ? What is your own belief as to causation factors ?

That is a great question. Idiopathic is what we use just because we haven't figured out what the cause of most of those teens scoliosis is. My personal opinion is that most of the time it is a genetic cause, with the shape of the bones changing slightly with growth, and then the forces of gravity and growth continue to progress it. I have seen it too often run in families, and I think this is the most common reason. The times it isn't running in families, it still might be if we went back far enough, or there may be a triggering event causing a similar change in the symmetry of the spine, sparking off the curve. Just my opinion though. More research needs to be done but that is a challenge with so many variables and we can't really experiment on these kids. Thanks for the question!

I agree somewhat. I think genetics loads the gun but the environment pulls the trigger. My own view re environmental is that poor fundamental movement skills and vitamin D deficiency are two significant risk factors in onset and progression. What do you think of this?

@jamiedorrian4784 definitely could be a possibility. More research is needed for sure. Proving causation is hard with this population but I think those are things that can be addressed at least. Thanks for sharing.
