If the Catch Can is filled and you tilt it with the connected lines to the side or even without the lines, then all the nasty stuff flows out. Just as a tip, take the lines off before so that nothing flows back in the engine or turbo!

I should have read your comment before drain it. It's exactly what happened to me :( A lot of bubbling noises from the plate but that shut out after few meters. Be carefull to drain it in time!

I just installed mine last week and I can confirm that the PCV replacement plate DOES in fact FIX the problem of smoke billowing out of the back. See my rear dash cam vid which caught the smoke on video here (pre VWR PVC replacement) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3asopttgsSCmc0 I drove 2 roads today that would always trigger the smoke through aggressive driving, and I hit then even harder and I'm happy to say it eliminated the smoke completely. I am a very happy customer. 👍🏻

James, you should fit a valve on the bottom of that can and run a hose down under the car to drain it. Let us know what fittings you end up using.

This ^^^ Fumoto valve with a 90 elbow and a hose down through the belly pan held in place with a few zip ties. Works great. Takes 2 minutes to unlock the valve, turn it and drop the fluids to a pan under the car.

The VWR Catch Can is a quality piece as are most of their offerings, but it is quite expensive. The VWR was one of my 1st mods, since then I've read that the OEM VW PCV system is supposedly quite good as well and probably replacing it may have been unwarranted? I suppose you could flog whichever model Golf you chose to employ this catch can on hard enough to make it smoke, I've never got my GTI to smoke with the VWR. I was a bit disgruntled that with the high price of the VWR unit it didn't come with a drain valve, especially since it calls for replacing a VW "one time use" bolt? Fumoto makes a fine valve (B106SX ) for about $40 US, but it seems like it might be a challenge to operate in those tight spaces? I used a less expensive method to drain my catch can. A trip to the local hardware store provided me with a 90 degree brass fitting M14-1. 5 to fit the can and another threaded (sorry don't remember this size) to screw on a barbed fitting. An additional purchase of a length of hose to fit the barbed fitting, a couple of hose clamps and zip ties, and a hose plug and it's all over? Now you can clean the sludge from your catch can by using a long nozzle aerosol cleanser of your choice with out having to remove the can. I think my total cost was about $10. This worked for me, I hope it helps some of you as well!!

Is it possible to syphon out the catch can ? Seems like it would be a more logical method so you’re not constantly removing the engine mount bolts 🤷🏻‍♂️

I like it butt! But i think stage 1 for say under 2k and 370bhp+ is better than all the rest u got remus exhaust 2k, plus catch can? Plus new map and all the extras for only 40bhp more seems pretty crazy!!! 413bhp! And the stage 3 for 500bhp+ will be significantly more like 10k+ for just that! But hey i love what your doing...

Hi. I'm owner of one R. The problem with smoke that you had....was in circuit? Or in public road? I am thinking between intercooler or catch can.... I live in a relative coold place...and i dont know how to do. I never saw the smoke in my car yet

David Garcia it was on a public road you may never see it for yourself it doesn’t happen to everyone, I don’t have an intercooler and it’s been nearly a year since stage 2 for me and it’s been great However if you was planing on track days I’d have an intercooler 😊

I have this particular catch can on a 2019 R - MK7.5 Facelift Note the mount bolt he removed must be replaced with a new one each time it is removed (this is a stretch bolt) and there is a chance it will snap after repeated retorquing -- and it must be torqued. Cost approximately $4 dollars U.S. SOoooooooooooooo... Use a syringe to remove the oil/water etc... Much cleaner, quicker and less expensive... :) This is the syringe I use: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N49DFNP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the manufacturer website of the catch can -- "superb quality" !!! www.racingline.com/vwr13g700 I bought mine from USP Motorsport: www.uspmotorsports.com/VWR-MQB-EA888-2.0T-Catch-Tank-kit.html Install video is here (Humble Mechanic): kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYS7gKp-gr6oq7s Note: Make sure you have all the correct tools before you start job --- or you will be sorry. People need to note that catch can systems that replace the pcv system will catch so much more compared to systems that still keep the pcv system. Those piggyback systems aren’t that good. This system by VWR is one of the best.

@ericmichel3857
@ericmichel3857 5 жыл бұрын
Why? What could the PCV do to affect how much the catch can captures? Sounds like complete BS to me, I have noticed you VW guys love to buy all sorts of completely unnecessary overpriced crap. Now if you can explain how the PCV allows the catch can to be more effective great I would love to learn something new, but I don't think you can, sounds like you are just repeating some marketing propaganda.
