107 today here in Texas Doc! My weedeater and blower seem to have power problems in this heat. We have months of 100 degree weather, i change oil around 50 hours on my mowers.Love the channel and God Bless! I only watch you after mowing all day!

Lol, love the humor at the end brother. Wow, 107, Texas is a hot one for sure. I have to believe heat does play a part in the longevity of the motors. Thank you so much for the support and God bless

Same here 50 to 60 hour oil changes. Those small engines get very hot. I don't see how they hold up so well in the heat. Run 10-40 in the cold months and 20-50 in the summer.

#noicewheelmarks. I haven't noticed any heat issues on my mowers - all Kawasaki's. As you know Doc, I religiously change the oil every 50 hr's & will continue that. Oil is cheap. Also air blow/clean the mower down regularly. Cheers Mate. 💯👊💪😎🦘

Thanks Mate #whippasnippa, I keep the mower clean between yards so that shouldn't be an issue. Never know what causes things, it has never caused an issue so no worries. God bless brother

Oh I believe the heat plays a huge role in engine life I know for me I know my blowers and trimmers have a harder time starting I can’t saying that for mowers. I watch you when I can man I love your channel your right mow all day come home tired can’t watch lawncare some days bud lol

As always, love the verses you put on your videos. Second, regarding your question on running the engine in high heat situations. Typically, just about every brand of small engine will operate just fine as long as the temperatures don't exceed over 100 degrees F for extended periods of time. If necessary, take breaks if you feel like you've ran the lawnmower or piece of equipment too long. Use higher viscosity oils if need be. Fuel will evaporate faster in higher heat too, so be mindful with that.
@DOCREAL11182 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Mark for the tips and being helpful on the motor situation. I did not know that about fuel in the heat. So glad you enjoy the verses brother. God bless

I haven't noticed any issues with heat and the engines. My older Deere has over 1000 hrs and a Kohler. My new Deere has a Kawasaki but only has 6.3 hrs so time will tell with the Kawasaki. Have a great night!

I have noticed it when the heat index gets up to about 100 and it's not all the time. Let me know if you ever get that. Thanks brother!!
@RustyShackle-v9u2 ай бұрын
The equipment does seem to run a little better during the cooler season. 20w50 high zinc synthetic oil in the kawasaki. At the end of the season i take off the engine cover and blow it out with compressed air. Anything to help the motor shed heat. Dont forget the hydros samething that grass packs on them and they'll run hotter heat is friction and wear.

I think so myself but maybe it's just something we notice. Great points!

I have Scags and the dealer told me full throttle for the pto but the scag manual says 3/4 I believe. I always have done it a touch less than 3/4 engaging or disengaging on these and a Ferris I had. I've only noticed my engines both a Kaw and a vanguard efi crank a little longer if there sitting in the hot sun but I believe it's something to do with the fuel tank building pressure, but we only get into the low 90's here on the hottest days.
@DOCREAL11182 ай бұрын
Thanks for the input on the Scag. That at least helps me on that one. Mine will do that when it gets hot as well. It usually happens when it sets for awhile on the trailer while I trim and it's in direct sunlight at high 90's
@SLLawnCare2 ай бұрын
I think it's something to do with the fuel tanks and evap they have now. My Ferris I had would actually miss bad and blow black smoke and put gas in the oil if it sit in the sun then went to use it like you were saying. Turned out to be the fuel evap hose that runs to the throttle body was dripping fuel and flooding it. Did not matter what the fuel levels were in the tank, I finally just plugged it off from going back in the engine.

Been running Kawasaki Engines for years in Eastern N.C. Never experienced the issue you're describing. As far as engaging blades, my manuals say start at full throttle.

I have been running sae30hd oil for years when it's super hot and no engine issues knock on wood. Hot days always take a little longer to start. Hot air doesn't seem to combust as quick as cool air does. Just my two cents. I also get the sputter when it's really hot.
