Does Your Fuel Tank Leak When Full? T1N Sprinter Free & Easy Repair

If your fuel tank drips when it is full the problem is the seal around the fuel-sender/fuel-pump because the ring-nut has vibrated loose over time.

It can wait. Spilled diesel isn't a fire hazard but it is expensive so try to minimize spilling by not filling the fuel tank completely full until fixed.

I have a 2003 sprinter van. I watched a number of videos and saw that the high pressure pump usually is the source of diesel fuel leakage in the front. I took mine off and I do not have the three screws that everyone seems to have. My pump is smaller. So in essence, where the heck is that fuel coming from? We drove it for 3 weeks with it leaking I couldn't take it off the road. I finally parked it and removed the pump. To no avail there's no screws. There are two hoses that come in on the passenger side. And there's a funny little plate that holds them in place. Could those possibly be the culprit? Are they both supposed to have washers on them? Small rubber washers?

I think you are referring to the six screws that come loose on 2004-2006 Sprinter high pressure fuel pumps. Your 2003 will have a different pump that leaks for entirely different reasons. Yours will usually drip onto the belt and that is a bigger problem. Sorry I should have said the four screws that come loose not three three are what hold it on to the engine block

Your 2003 pump doesn't have those screws. See my comment below for links to proper videos for your pump.

Can you please help me figure out why I can't access the Facebook group? I was as nice as I could be and as far as I know I did not violate any standard. I've gotten a lot of help from the FB group and have been helpful in return. I have gotten flamed and was completely nice and polite in response to flame and hate coming my way. I don't get it. It is painful to be cut off from the FB group, especially on Christmas.

That's a different problem. Likely a rotten hose on the top of the tank. We can't use standard fuel line here because the pressure out of the tank is 50-80psi. Must use injector fuel line.

@@FloridaVanMan I couldn’t find the OEM fuel hose so I bought some regular knitted fuel hose about a year or so ago. Guess times up.
