Nice video! Thank you. The Carvex was my first Festool tool. I was doing a redwood house siding project. On the strobe light, I notice that the strobe varies with the blade speed setting. So to my eyes, during a cut, it makes the blade appear or ‘look’ like it’s standing still. Combine that with dust extraction, makes the Carvex, a game changer in jigsaws.

I love my Carvex and all that Festool magic!!! My Carvex has saved me many times! I have been having some issues loading and ejecting my blades.... they seem to stick when being ejected and I really need to wiggle/ work them in to seat them. Is this something that can be fixed? Does it just need to be cleaned? (It doesn't seem that dirty) Thank you again for all the great videos guys!! As a side note, I just want to let you know that all the videos you have done (w/ Festool and this channel) have given me a lot of knowledge and confidence. I may appear as a belly acher here from time to time but, don't mean to be. I started my woodworking/finish carpentry journey way late in life and opted for Festool to try to give myself an edge. For the most part it has been highly successful especially with dust collection in peoples homes. I own a carvex and that accessory kit for it. In no way am I pointing the finger at you for this opinion but, Festool does give you the cool shirts. The manuals for these tools are weak at best. When you spend top dollar on tools the least you should get is directions on how to use it and ALL of the features it has instead of never knowing or burning time on the internet hoping for answers. I have ruined things due to not having vital information about the tool. I use the carvex mainly for coping with the Collins coping foot. I never use the accessory kit. The main tool I bought it for is the circle cutter which has zero information on how to use it anywhere on earth I can find. A deep dive (every step... most videos leave out the vital parts) into getting the size hole you want with the cut staying on a 90 would be really appreciated. I have literally have been considering dumping that accessory systainer into the trash and using it to store other items. That light turning off when you turn it upside down should have been an option. I have used my carvex to cut holes in weird tight spaces and it turning itself off when upside down makes for an unpleasant experience. Learning about the A button being keeping the blade @ 90° and not wobbling until it makes contact is very helpful. I had zero clue about that and have owned this tool for at least 5 years. Your videos are appreciated and thanks for taking the time to make them.

I agree that the manuals are not Festool's strongest selling point. But at least for many of the popular Festool products, there are unofficial "Supplemental Manuals" which are often quite good, and they go a long way toward filling in the knowledge gaps, but of course, Sedge's video commentaries are the BEST -- simply nonpareil.

My carvex worked amazing when I first bought it but then one day it refused to cut and orbital mode doesn’t seem to work anymore. There are videos of folks on KZbin talking about a potential design flaw where the blade tilts away from the cut under normal load disengaging the cutting teeth but Festool hasn’t offered a solution or apology for the oversight. I need to send mine in for service, but I’m curious if you know anything about this?

@@LukePighetti Sedge is a smart guy and a very knowledgeable trainer, but I don't think he, or any Festool employee, will admit to a possible design flaw in a tool, especially in a public forum, and especially about a flaw that has gained notoriety on KZbin, UNLESS the company has already acknowledged the problem. I purchased my Carvex (T-Nr 10213001) from Recon and it was already out of warranty so I opened it up and noticed the pin was pushed forward exactly as described in the video. The blade in my Carvex has always had a fair amount of play. I only use it for rough cuts and assumed the play to be normal. Jigsaws are not my favorite tool so I never really knew it was inherently more capable than my 1980s era Black & Decker jigsaw. The grub screw fix only takes a few minutes and is very easy to do. I'm actually quite happy with my Carvex after having done the fix. If you send in your Carvex, take a picture of your pin before and after. So while I don't expect Sedge to acknowledge a problem with the tool, I think it would be interesting to hear his opinion on the alteration shown in the video, give some insight on what he sees, and provide some commentary as to whether or not he thinks what is shown is the intended behavior of the tool. If this is a non-issue, maybe he could even film a rebuttal where he opens up a Carvex and debunks the whole issue. I'd become a SedgeTool Patron for that! (Though, I'm already a Green Suiters Patron so probably not. Ha.)
