NOTE: The measurements for the foam stabilizer side panels are shown as 8", which is the same as the liner and main fabric. However, when stacking the pieces, the foam is shown as being narrower (i.e. does not go edge to edge, the same as the other pieces). I think she forgot to adjust that measurement to 7.5" instead of 8.

Hello could you please explain this? You say add 1- 1/2” for seam allowance then say 1/2” for borders? I don’t understand does that mean 2” for seam allowance? Thank you so much
@cassandras.20678 ай бұрын
Did you include the seam allowance when trying to figure out where the handle hole should go to the top panel?
@luliprint7 ай бұрын
Hi. Make sure to leave enough space on the top edge. You need to account for your seam alloy when sewing the top panel. Also I added a little extra room on my opening to lift the handle comfortably. Happy sewing!

Hello, thank you for this great tutorial and the fabric you designed. I am in the middle of making it just as you have described but have had to redo the side pocket. Initially I began sewing the elastic edge cut to the same length as the width of the side piece. But then after sewing the pocket on to the side I realized that the bottom didn’t gather and there would not be the stretch desired. How is this to be done exactly? Should the elastic be shorter and stretched to the size of the mesh? Thanks!
@luliprint10 ай бұрын
Hi! 👋🏼 Yes. Cut the elastic a little bit shorter and stretch it as you sew it to the mesh. Can’t wait to see your final cover! 👏🏼 You can tag me on instagram @luli.print .Thanks for watching! Happy Sewing! 🪡🤗🌟
@luliprint10 ай бұрын
Also check minute 32:26 you can see that the elastic is like 1inch shorter than the mesh when I place it right above it before I start clipping it. As I clip the folded elastic to the mesh I stretch my elastic to match the edges.

Love the video cute cover. What is the name of the matching royal blue color you used? I do my covers with Pellon thermolam plus or flex foam but I bought some of the bosal because I’ve always wanted to try it. My handle is similar to yours only my flap is on the inside. What needle are you using for the bosal. I love the the bias cheater! OMG that will save so much time not having to make separate handmade bias. Thanks

Hello! I have a quick question if you have a moment. I'm new to sewing and I don't quite understand how you did the measurements. Did you add 1/2 inch to the machine measurements AND a 1/2 inch seam allowance to get the total measurement of your panels? Also one other question. My handle opening might be too close to the edge of my top panel. It's about 3/4 inch away from the edge. Is that too close? Is there anything I can do to fix that? Thank you for the tutorial! I'm excited for this to be my first big project!
@luliprint7 ай бұрын
Hi Thanks so much for watching. I would add 1 3/4in to your measurements to work comfortably. I used a 3/8” seam allowance and then I finished the borders with a 1/2” seam allowance. So that takes a total of 1 in. So to work comfortably you can add 1 3/4in to your sewing machine measurements. Your handle seems to be too close to the edge. I have another video with a sewing machine cover that has a handle, but not an opening. The handle it’s only to lift the cover alone and not the machine, but I use it all the time in my studio. This is the tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fV6lmYiVYtl3jZosi=v8lkHZLkrjCefPfm Happy Sewing! 🤗🌟

@@luliprint Great video, I think there is a lot of confusion on seam allowance of 3/8" and the final top edge stitching on the outside with the 1/2 inch. Is there different terminology for that kind of finishing? I can't wait to make this for my machine and serger. Your fabric is so cute, can get it here in Portugal?

beautiful cover! I am properly going to make this one for my new sewingmachine, husqvarna e10, which are my first one! One question, is your needle left positioned when you are sewing? Regards Jonas
@luliprint11 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much! Yes, the needle is on the left on my standard foot, but I’m Not setting it to move to the left. It’s the standard and default position of the needle when I turn my machine on. I’m using 3/8 in seam allowance.

@@Albertjonas Hi. I’m using a standard foot and the settings when my sewing machine turns on. I’m. Not moving or setting my needle to sew on the left side. Can you use this for a very large machine?
@luliprint Жыл бұрын
Hi! 👋🏼 Maybe adding some quilting to the panels before sewing them together would give them more structure for a larger cover. Also, I really recommend using the Bosal double sided foam stabilizer because it gives a very nice and sturdy finish. Happy Sewing! 🧵🪡
@raggedyanna6-Missy Жыл бұрын
I am sorry last question did you cut the bosal foam 1/2” smaller on all sides?
@luliprint Жыл бұрын
Hi! 👋🏼 Cut the sides 1/2” smaller and the top 1/2” or 3/8” (according to the seam allowance you are going to be using) Don’t cut any at the bottom. That’s going to be your base and you are going to be topstitching right on top of it to give it a nice finish. 🤗

@@luliprint thank you so much! So if I use 5/8” seam allowance should I add 1 or 1.5 inches to fabric? This is a wonderful video!
@luliprint Жыл бұрын
@@raggedyanna6-Missy Thanks so much! I recommend you Re watch the segments about cutting your panels. There are slight different measurements for your main panels, lining fabric, and the Bosal stabilizer. I add an extra 1/2” to the overall machine measurements to have room around it and then add the seam allowance that you are going to be using (except at the bottom) Remember that the lining will be 1” longer at the bottom to be able to fold the bottom border. Hope that helps. 🤗
@raggedyanna6-Missy Жыл бұрын
@@luliprint yes that’s what I meant, I understand everything but how much to add for the seam allowance you say 1-1/2 inches to the machine size, you added an inch, but say 1 to 1 1/2.maybe I will do 1 1/2 to be safe 🙂

@@raggedyanna6-Missy 1 1/2 sounds good , to be safe. Because I rounded up my machine measurements at the beginning to give more room and so it’s not a tight cover.

Is the Bosal foam stabilizer always so crazy expensive? The Amazon link has it selling for $35.44! That seems super expensive, considering Joann currently has Pellon Flex-Foam for $4.99/yd; I bought two yards for $11.98 for this project. Yes, the Pellon is only 20" wide versus Bosal's 58", but I can't justify spending over $35 *just* on interfacing for this project.

@@luliprint it's still annoying to have to constantly switch between muted/unmuted. Audio is one of the biggest problems with KZbinrs -- too much music, wrong music, too loud music, really bad audio levels between music and speaking sections, etc. (My husband is a professional videographer and has shared his expertise with me, as I sometimes create videos as well.) Learning proper audio for YT videos is well worth any KZbinr's time.
