Death is this Communion was the first HoF album I picked up after seeing them live in '08, I had only been playing guitar for about a year or so and the tones that Matt was channeling absolutely broke my brain. This thing is a piece of heavy metal history!

I got the best whiplash from a show In My Life (so far) when I saw High On Fire in the early 2000’s (‘05, ‘06? Can’t remember for sure😅) at a small venue in Asheville NC, which he was playing this very guitar! I remember being absolutely blown away by his tone and ferocity in what was then a relatively new project. Glad to see a deeper dive into his gear for us Doomnerds!👍🤙🖖

Oh wow, Steve. What a piece of music history. I saw that thing in action on the H.O.F./Opeth/Baroness tour in Fall, 2008 and their last show of the tour was at Ram's 🐏 Head in Baltimore. The guitar would occasionally have one of the octave strings get stuck on the bridge while Pike was playing a solo and it would wreck the jam for him and I felt bad; if I wasn't in the balcony at the time, I def would've told the tech to see what could been adjusted, e.g. a little slip of a piece of matchbook, etc. Otherwise, it was a KILLER, FLAWLESS SHOW! ☠️☠️☠️

The 3rd string unison courses breaking in different directions at the nut (one towards the top of the headstock, the other towards the bottom) causes a load of tuning stability issues, unfortunately.
