I watched this video almost 3 years ago when I was considering getting a Lagotto and it is one of the reasons I got one. I have had my Lagotto 2 years and it truly is hard to put into words what a great dog she is and how much happiness she brings me. I did a lot of reading about the breed & watched a lot of videos. I just rewatched the video and EVERYTHING this lady says is absolutely spot on! This dog is just the best,

Unfortunately poor mite was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when he was 6 but touch wood he managed well with careful and controlled exercising

I have a lagotto romagnolo, she will be two in a few weeks. She is adorable, extremely affectionate, fantastic with children, and extremely social. she never barks at all when we are out. She will bark at home if she hears strange noises and thinks someone is coming to the house. But otherwise, she is completely silent. Lagottos are very clever, you have to work with them to not let them be complete divas and get their own way about everything. Nail clipping for example, I have to trim at least one paw a week, to reenforce that my dog must accept that part of grooming. It has resulted in her being very accepting of vets. One thing about lagottos to keep in mind, is that they are naughty when bored and if they want your attention, they won't give up until they get it. As puppies, they are completely bonkers.

@@Dekn33s Lagotti are beautiful, but they are a high maintenance breed. They ned at least two hours walking a day, with an hour off the lead, and they need a lot of attention. They also don't like being alone, even if there are other humans in the house, you can't let them without company. Don't get one if you can't' be home with them all day long! They are not dogs that you can leave alone while you go to work. It would really cause them immense suffering.

Awesome channel! Bummer I just found out about it...covering all the cool breeds I like! I don’t why I’m sick of owners saying-if you haven’t had this breed before it’s not for you- like how are people supposed to learn and get acquainted if they don’t try...it’s like getting a job! Hey have you ever flip burgers? Of ok then we can’t hire you...well if you don’t give me a chance to learn then I guess I will never know how...I swear must breeders say this...I reached to a few about a number of different breeds and they first question always is- have you ever own this breed? Have you ever seen one? If not it’s not for you” Like WTF! Keep up the good content mate!

Yeah my first question to them would be can you meet their dogs to get to know the breed. Do this with lots of breeders before you enquire about purchasing one. It will help a lot and also spend lots of time with them. Find some people local to you who own one and meet up with them for a walk to meet their dog. See if it’s for you and hear about others experiences.

I bought what I thought was a standard poodle, but I think he's a lagotto romagnolo. How do you tell the difference? Max is shorter and stockier than the poodles I've had. And I've never had a dog as interested in toys before - he loves fetch and chewing and pull toys. Very much unlike poodles I've had.

Not sure how you could buy what you thought was a Standard Poodle and get a Lagotto. I just got one from Europe and he was over $4,500. Not pocket change. A black nose disqualifies the breed. These dogs are not easily found or purchased.

Lagotto is a robust dog, in only one size, poodles are never multicolour, standard poodle is the biggest size of poodle and way bigger then lagotto… and when you see them together, you understand who is who…

The difference is very clear: lagotto has a combination of: brown nose, no curled or upgoing tail (!!), ears not hanging below the cheek, very straight body, shaft height around 40-50 cm

Our Logtto came to us as a re-home with behavioral issues (we knew that going in). After two years he is about a 95% "good dog" but still moments of misbehavior. Yes, barking if set off, unfortunately our other dog (another rehomed cockapoo) does trigger. Good sleeper, don't' know about mushrooms but can track down my socks (?), and thinks he is a lap dog. Intelligent? No, we had Westies for many years and by comparison Edgar is a big dope.
@carina92612 жыл бұрын
Your comment is so interesting to me! I had a Westie for over 15 years, best dog I ever did have. He passed away last May and I recently put a deposit down on a Lagotto litter. Terriers are supposed to be much more stubborn, however I’m not shocked to hear about the intelligence as my Westie was smart as a whip.

They are very similar. When I was a kid, we had one. Unfortunately there were issues regarding my parents' break up so our dad kicked us out and got rid of the dog because he didn't want him anymore. After we got back on our feet, we realised that the dog was very happy with the people who took him in, so we let them keep him as to not cause the dog any more trauma. After a few years we got a Lagotto and everyone thinks it's the same dog😅

I have a Labrador crossed with a Lagoto. She's the typical mixed breed black coated dog. Her temperament is amazing, sweet is an understatement. Intelligence, amazing, she can bark in 179 languages. I am in love with Lagotto's :) How they get along with kids?
@daveplem5 жыл бұрын
Angie Amari They are fantastic with kids, but they are high energy and prone to be rambunctious. Children are highly attracted to them because they are so adorable, but they may jump on the child out of exuberance unless they are trained not to. Ours is outrageously affectionate and lovey. He loves outdoor play with lots of kids at once. 100 kids would not be too many. He is only a year old, but he exhibits excellent judgement with kids and with other dogs. Although they are not big dogs, they are quite rugged and durable. Mine likes rough and tumble play even with much bigger dogs. And he is blindingly fast. He can outrun all of the other dogs at the dog park, and he knows he can get out of trouble with a burst of speed at the dog park.

Incorrect pronunciation. “Lago” = “Lake” in Italian. There is no short “O” sound in the language. Say “Lah-go-toe”.
@smilingcaterpillar55433 жыл бұрын
not too bad pronounciation, in my opinion. Just all 'O' need to be a clear sound O, and not the diphthong OU typical of English
@テトテト-q5v5 жыл бұрын
Your pronunciation of lagotto romagnolo is not correct, but it sounds close, you should pronounce the double /t/ in "lagotto" (making it sound stronger), the vowel like the 2 "o" at the end of the words are shorter (they sound more "oh" instead of "ou", like you pronounced) and the consonant in "gno" (in romagnolo) is not a sound that is present in english (its sounds like the spanish "ño"), but you pronounced it pretty close :)
