Renee, Pollux is def your dog, while Maxi gravitates toward your Hubby. Our inside kitty is her Daddy's side-kick, but comes to me when sick. Three ourside cats others abandoned..the male is my cat and 1 female mund of, but the other is soley Daddy's kitty. I think a man was responsible for the basic care of the pound dogs. I also think he wore a hat and boots, and thus, Pollux hates that. I could be completely wrong. Thanks so much for allowing us to watch the love you give to Pollux and Maxi.

Pollux's stare of " love " as you were petting him was just adorable. He obviously trust and loves you ❤ and Randy seems to be slowly winning his trust. I shudder to think what a male must have done to him while he was in the shelter that he does not trust males. But, Pollux and Max have won the Lotto in parents.

My theory: the workers in the shelter where Pollux lived were primarily male. They wore tall boots and most of them hats too. I think he feared them because anytime they opened his crate, the sole purpose was to move him or do something to him. It's taken 8 months for Pollux to get comfortable around Randy and seek his attention. He still has a long way to go but is slowly getting better. At night, Pollux will approach Randy on the couch and want rubs. And in bed, Pollux will intentionally paw at Randy for attention. Sometimes he will even lay his head on Randy. It's so sweet ❤️

I adopted a 1 yr old from the shelter 3 weeks ago. Her name is Gracie and she is so adorable 😊. She looks like a Dachshund /Beagle mix. I plan on doing a DNA test for her! Thank you for sharing the calming bed. Gracie's arrived yesterday and she loves it!!!

Where do you live? Rather than a shelter, you might research a Rescue. I volunteer at a Rabbit Rescue and it’s open during COVID. In fact, their adoption rate is up.

Pets love routine ,it gives them stability. If something changes they have to adjust again. I just love your garden. If I were a pooch I could live outside in that yard. The magic word is "treats", they suddenly showed up.😊 So sweet the way Randy tucks Maxxie in his snuggly bed. Pollux wants to make sure his parents are tucked in first before he goes to sleep.

Love your videos. This one was SOOO precious. We have 2 huskies and also have a nighttime ritual that involves treats on the bed. Pollux has such a Husky tail. The Maxxie burrito was so darn adorable. Thank you for these snippets of your life. You are a natural with these videos and always do something interesting but even something as mundane as going to bed , you had me captured watching til the end. Love Maxxie's burritos bed! Pollux has become a true member of the family and is a very happy pup! Definitely won the jackpot with your family! My dog (a beagle) will burrow under the sheets and blankets, stay there for about an hour, then he will come out to lay at the foot of the bed. Keep up the good work on your videos! I enjoy them!

We have had Schnauzers all our lives until we got our rescue dog. He is blonde, not sure what he is but he is the sweetest thing. He is getting old now like us. I am 75 and now I am letting my light colored hair grow out to it's natural color... white. I started when we couldn't get out to the salon. You were a big influence. I have naturally curly hair also. I have enjoyed your videos so much. Love the hair growing out ones, the purple shampoo ones, and all the rest. Maxie is so precious and love Pollux. It's his signal that it's time to go to my bed for cuddle time before going to sleep. Only problem is he sleeps horizontal on the bed and stretches out his paw and his tail to be as long as possibly can be. And he's only 8 pounds! I wake up in the middle of the night and I'm almost falling out of bed as he's taking up more than his half of the bed!

You could try putting some Peanut butter on the outside lower part of the dog door...or cheese wiz. When he licks it he will push the door in, and hopefully further and further in until he accidentally steps through with his front foot or feet and that way kind of coax him through maybe.

Sooo cool Renee ! Thx! It made me smile watching randy tuck in maxxie :) and I was really surprised Pollux loved the attention from randy! I remember when seeing him come in with his baseball cap on and Pollux was barking in the early days.. what a lovely change he’s settled down so much.. lovely seeing the dogs .. we all have our nighttime routines it seems!! :) xx

Hi! Pollux has finally turned a corner with Randy. He actually wants him to scratch his ears when we get in bed at night. If Randy doesn't do it, Pollux will scratch and paw at him till he does. It's so sweet!!

There are some dogs who have a weird issue about hats. I don't know if headgear triggers a bad memory or if they have trouble recognizing people who've altered their appearance, and are being cautious of a possible foe.

Oh my stars Renee that was beyond adorable. Pollux has turned into a nite time snuggler. The ending had me laughing so hard when he did his belly crawl under the bed. One last try for Pollux to use the doggy door might be to get a pup cup for each of the boys and let Maxxie have his on the outside and see if Pollux wouldn't go through then to get his treat. Anyway thanks for sharing. Hugs

Hi Patricia!!!! I'm not even sure why Pollux started crawling under the bed, but he does it every night. When he's had enough snuggles, he jumps down and goes under.
