Years ago, I had recently rescued an abused German Shepherd puppy from the Humane Society. She was very fearful and we were working on trust. I went to visit my Sister and brought her along, wanting to get her used to travelling in the car and to all the good things that she deserved but had thus far been denied. We were on my Sister's block talking with her neighbors when one man leaned into me slightly as he was talking. From this very scared girl comes a low growl, as if to say "She is my human and you are not going to hurt her". I knew right then that she was a keeper and that I would do anything to protect her. Keywords: the responsibility has to come from the owners. My neighbors have a pit bull they've allowed to roam the neighborhood to the point she believes it's all "hers". They can't be bothered to close their back gate when letting the dog in the back yard or watch her while she's outside. Neither will she return to them on command. The dog has repeatedly aggressively charged many of us over and over, trapping us in our homes and cars. Some of us are elderly/handicapped, some small children. These dog owners then get pissed and aggressive themselves when animal control is called on the dog. Fines do nothing to change things. Most of us feel it's only a matter of time before something terrible happens since we've been through this with an aggressive boxer in the past and a teenager ended up bitten badly. The dog was put down. All because the owner couldn't be bothered to leash her dog between the house and car, ever. I have nothing against the dogs. It's irresponsible owners who refuse/fail to adequately train their dogs or follow local laws I have issues with.

America has been shown to have the highest ratings of bad mental health in dogs, and it's mainly due to the media of what people say "You should and shouldn't do" and listening to the wrong advice, but also they do too much for their dogs and treat them like kids, when that's not what they are. They don't learn like people do, no one method works on all dogs while training. A good owner needs to find out what works that's not harming the dog, or making the dog fear you or anything in any way One other issue is that people tend to belive the alpha omega theory which has been proven false, and that you shouldn't try dominating your dogs

@@Pluscelamemechose Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... -- Author unknown

@@TheKillaMike1 I work for a law firm over 30 years. My conception of pits are not picked up from thin air. I don't have to read or watch media but facts from cases. Pit bull or staffie are ban in UK. About 200-300 are put down every year. You can't breed them, abandon, or give them away. You also need a licence, insurance to keep one. you also need to put your dog on a leash and muzzled in public. You also need to keep your dog under control in your home (15 yr girl mauled to death at friend's house) as well as in public. They unpredictable, that is the danger.
@fernlow17864 жыл бұрын
@@TheKillaMike1 by the way I was referring to pit bull terrier, one of the banned breed in UK. If you can teach your dog " not to kill" maybe one can be safe. There is no guarantee even if you love your dog more than your life, that after 10 years, you will be safe from attack.

I used to be a person that didn't trust Pits. Then someone close to us told us about a little brown pit she rescued but couldn't keep. This little pit attached itself to me and she is the sweetest, most loving little dog I've ever had. Totally changed my opinion about Pit Bull terriers. I got educated. From now on. I will only have a Pit for a pet. The love and loyalty these dogs demonstrate, is off the charts. it is that same love and loyalty these breeders and fighting rings use against the dogs. That's insanely cruel.

Now notice how they kept saying "dog" and would have never said "Pit Bull" if the owner hadn't said it. But trust me when I say that the reporters would have called the dog a Pit Bull in a second if this was a negative story. This is something I have noticed in many media stories.

@ Ronnie Wilkerson, true! My family owned 3 pitbulls. They were the sweetest. My parents never liked the idea of having dogs in the home, but these dogs changed their mind. Just like people, they each had their own unique personality. You give a dog love and they give you triple that in return. Our family was heartbroken each time one passed.
