Well from what the vet said, the dog most likely ran away from home. He thinks the caretaker showed lots of love. Dogs do have a tendency to wander if they have a chance to get outside. Once they get lost, it can be hard for them to return. Of course we'll never know the real story.

I don’t know what’s the reason they abandoned the poor pup but they could have surrendered the pup to the shelters instead after all is so cold. To a dog we are their whole world, once you leave them in a strange place they will not leave that place they are loyal not like the person who abandoned them.
