As a German, the baumkuchen thing is next level, because I've never seen one of 'em here and I honestly have not the slightest idea what's in it either.

Ok I think this is the best video to make a brief introduction of Japanophilia. And your Japanese is very Jōzu desu.

the subtlety of scandinavian humor served by an American living in Japan. truly a product of the 21st century

Doesn't Japan also have those machines where you can give it, like, 300 yen or something and then you push, like, 2 buttons and it just, gives you a piece of food? Its crazy how people can just, do that in Japan...

I return to this channel after a while to find this Dogen Alter Ego taking over, lol. The good thing about Dogen's humor: it's always on point but never on the nose. The cringiness of it had me on the edge of my seat the whole 8 min. I hope you had some Renie at hand. 🤭

I especially loved the part where Dogen-senpai praises how diffrent the Famimart chicken is from KFC and how great the spices are for that. I mean, teriyaki?! NIHONSAIKOU, right?

This joke applies not only to Japan, but also to Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, India, and, as far as I know, many other countries around the world. While foreigners may be happy to pay tribute to their own culture, it pays more than anything else here. I heard a famous story about one youtuber who lives in Japan today, who lived in Korea before emigrating and was criticized quite a bit in Korea at the time.

This is especially funny given the fact most of the J-vloggers Dogen hangs out with live off this kind of content (in a non satirical way). I wonder what they think of this video lol
