I like how to kiss is a little awkward. It feels more real considering it’s more than likely Rose’s first kiss, so it’s not as polished as what you usually see in romance films. It feels very personal and awkward, even feeling intrusive, like something I’m not supposed to see. I love it.

This was a gorgeous film. I'd never seen River Phoenix act before, but he was great! Lili Taylor is not your typical Hollywood actress (in terms of looks) but there is something unique about her that I like. She is very charming and I loved her in this film. This was the most poignant scene, I just love how awkward they are, it's so heartfelt and REAL. :)

The Pun of Harts Eddie was also from a broken home and surrounded by Marines so he was super aggro when they first met. I'm pretty sure after the trauma of serving in Vietnam, he had PTSD and had probably changed quite a bit. The fact that out of anyone in the world he could have returned to, he came to see Rose speaks volumes. She spent the night trying to point out his asshole ways, which he liked, they connected and spent a very intimate special night together. Rose is kind. Rose is so intelligent. She is comforting, but she doesn't back down. Eddie did fall for her and she's his last memory of normalcy. I'm sure after the hug they spent hours talking. Rose probably offered him a place to stay. Hell we don't even know, Rose could have been in another relationship or married. I like to think that that is the look on her face while she comforts him with that hug. "oh shit, Eddie's back. How am I going to tell him? Can I even tell him, he's obviously hurting so badly. What am I gonna tell Bob?!" 😆

She was in another relationship, but of course she had to offer Eddie a place to stay because he was so broken and she loves him. Even though she kept in strictly platonic, it put a strain on her current relationship and caused the true nature of her boyfriend to be revealed (spoiler alert: he was a butthead). Eddie and Rose reconnected. She helped him heal, he supported her in her fight for causes. They had two cute baby boys and then an adorable baby girl. Did nobody else read the book I've written in my head about the rest of their lives together?

From what i understood its bc he was getting ready to go to war and he needed to be focused on that alone. writing to or having rose on his mind would “soften” him or maybe get to him mentally. He was a different person with his friends and in his Marine mentality but he was different when he was with Rose. I saw it as him letting all and any distractions go and focusing on what was in front of him. But it ended up being a horrible thing. Id like to think that while in Vietnam he regretted throwing away her address, i mean he does comes back to her after three years after all.
