I love how they fly with clear face shields. In any aircraft the sun is much brighter than when you are on the ground. I have flown in a couple of fast jets and when you raise you eye protection it is horrifically bright. They didn’t have them in Top Gun and they had clear ones in Maverick. It’s Hollywood and you have to see your movie stars.

I know it's a movie, but fighter pilots have a plethora of widely-accepted hand signals that they would be able to recognize. The SU pilot signalled "3-3-0 follow" which was probably exactly what it sounds like: "Direction 330, follow me." 3-3-0 is northwest-ish. Probably telling Maverick to return to base because they don't have comms. Movie was awesome but when that part came up I felt like Maverick would've understood right away

1:44 This is single handedly the most heart wrenching thing for me and other aviation nerds. The F-14 holds an M16A1 Vulcan, it fires 6000 rounds a minute, or 100 rounds a second. You don't get a *dadadadadadadada* You get a, *werrrrr* *_ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ_* Weird way to describe it I know but it is exactly what it sounds like.

I started enjoying military stuff when i was 8 years old (I'm now 14) and it was always incredible discovering how things worked and even found out things I never thought it could exist, and even after years understanding many things when the movie came out I didn't knew about the su-57, i thought it was a ''prototype plane'' just to be used in the movie, not that it really existed. It was the last thing that I got amazed to found out that it existed, now I can say that almost everything is possible to reach nowadays.

While there were quite a few inequities in this scene including the rate of fire on the M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon and the fact that he could magically pull basically a maneuver that would destroy the airframe by extending the wings and pulling a high-G climb, this was still one of the coolest scenes ever. I’m a fellow aviation nerd and I saw everything that was right and wrong with this scene, it was still cool as hell.

The 9A1-4071K-M1 gun was created for the SU-57. Its technical indicators are classified. But its predecessor GSh6-23 had a rate of fire of 10,000 rounds per minute.

Tom just single handedly made Ali Khamenei cry himself to sleep 💀💀 (If you didn't know, Iran is the enemy in Top Gun) There was a previous mission done there to destroy a nuclear power plant by... you guessed it, flying through a Canyon to evade radar. They are also the only airforce in the world that uses F-14 Tomcats.

Battle of Cobras!!! It's incredible that in this clip only, a US production managed to make Russian planes look cooler than Russians production with all its productions combined ever did. However, I think it would have been better if they had used the Su-27/35 instead of the Su-57. We would be watching the two sexiest machines ever in the sky ;)
