I don’t know if the guy that made these videos still checks this but I’ve listened to these songs since I was a kid and now I’m at the Navy Dive School and these songs remind me of the kid I once was and keeps pushing me forward on my Hell week tomorrow is my last day of Hell!! Let’s get it!!!!

warhawk9566 actually if you watched the episode, the 47 wasnt taken down by that 190 in one pass.... It actually took anther FW-190 that put ll its ammo into the Thunderbolt and still didnt bring it down.....

He meant the ME-109, not the FW-190. It's later in the episode, with a similar looking P-47 as the FW-190 scene.

One thing Dogfights does well is dramatize everything, but that's all part of the fun of watching it :)

Hey man, I watched this when I was around 10, and man I was obsessed. I didnt really like rock at that time besides linkin park, it really opened my eyes (and I was a huge WW2 buff if you could believe it) but anyway. Idk if you still look at this channel but I hope you are doing well man!

the upscaled version had four 20mm but it had four guns not 8. (two in the wings two in the nose) besides according to your math that's 6 or 4 not 8. P-47 had eight 50 cals so that's probably what you're thinking of. And p38 pilots who broke the sound barrier nearly got torn apart by the sound barrier, wind resistance and g-force, it's not the altitude i would be worried about.

"Out in the Fields" was a rock track by Gary Moore and ( the late great )Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy fame. Out in 1985 it got to No.5 in the UK charts as I recall. Great track..gets the heart pumping.

Must I remind people that the Japanse scored many hits with their Zekes. The Ferrousity of the Zekes in action, especially against Bombers and the slower fighters. Weaponry, Ammo and Speed is what the Zeke had that made them fearsome

Its a history channel CGI. They're good at making epic cinematic CGI airplane battles. I want them to start making fictional dogfights, just to make more amazing footage for videos like this.

While there are some other things to consider, too - I agree with you. Don't forget some other very good japanese planes i.e. the Kawasaki ki-61 or the Nakajima ki-84... excellent aircraft with apparently more armor than zeros and (especially the 84) bomber-knocking firepower.

A big reason why American aces have less kills, is that they were rotated out to train new pilots. Axis pilots flew until they were wounded or killed in action.

except you are missing the fact that b-17s were not manuevering. and the p-47 could easily put out a 262 in a dive. plus the outer layer of the thunderbolt was reinforced with smaller armor platings. not to mention the 'Jug was air cooled.

actually the first man to actually reach the sound barrier was infact a Thunderbolt pilot that went into a dive. AND the jug can lose up to 2 cylinders and still make it home if it heads straight back. a lingering FW-190 cant take down a P-47. so why would a 262 be able to?

i would be worried more about my wing getting torn off by the g-force. And no fw-190 ever flew into battle with 8 guns, they may have experimented with 8 in tests but it was most commonly sent into battle with 4. It was very common for a 38 to hit the sound barrier which is why i brought it up, and the planes were nearly ripped to shreds in the process

No problem. I'm quite proud of my country, and the feats our pilots accomplished during the war. I won't say they were the best of the best, though. Not when we have pilots like Saburo Sakai, Erich Hartmann, and the Star of Africa. Besides, the FW-190-D is superior to the Mustang in dogfight, at least that's what I believe.

From what i know they were so HARD to shoot down beacause they had no armour. Having no armour meant the plane was lighter and much more agile then the first american planes. And besides no armour meant that the plane was cheaper to produce and more planes like this could be made.

well for one a fw-190 has alot less firepower than a 262 (Me-262 has four 30mm cannons > Fw-190's two 13 mm cannons and two machine guns.) For two didn't you see that p-47 get taken out by that bf-109 in one pass? If they had to dive to reach the speed of sound chances are you have extremely little to no control over the airframe and your only hope of not crashing is having a ton of altitude so you can regain control. Besides 262's were pretty manueverable actually.

Really? the fw180 had two 13 mm machine-guns plus four 20 mm cannon or two 20 mm and two 30 mm cannons. so it had almost the same firepower. that is up to 8 guns on it. watch the thunderbolt episode of dogfights and you wll see. And the new paddle prop gave the thunderbolt excellent climbing abilities. so once it got alltitude then it would have plenty of time to get out of the dive.

doubtful. if one pass from a 262 could take a b-17 out in one pass i doubt that a P-47 would've lasted much longer, it was also not as fast or manueverable and they never saw combat agains 262's anyway cause they didn't have the range

@tan8wh me262 is good for quick strikes and hit and run attacks with its fast jet engines and 4 30mm cannons. if an me262 has a lead on you, your fucked. but its not good for dogfighting because it is TOO fast. the me262 pilots felt like they outclassed the allied and russian pilots in those jets so they went into dogfights willingly but p-51's turned much better than 262's so if they tried to dogfight/turn fight they didnt stand a chance

in the fist time of the war in Pacific, the japanes Zero was a redoubtable machine VS american's planes...Moreover, it's not the machine who fight : it's his pilot ; for example, the first japanese ace had 104 victories (Hiroyoshi Nishizawa), and for the most famous of all american aces (in Pacific) "just" 28 (Gregory Boyington). And it's also the same thing with american and german aces...It's just propaganda and stupid vanity on behalf of the Americans. It's disappointing From their part...
