I agree with you but to be honest, there are a few players (without me calling any names) that didn't apply themselves the way they should. For example, flashing at a wide ball outside the off stump in a test match is unacceptable. The same goes for dabbing or hanging the bat as if they don't know where their off stump is. I know it was a flat pitch but I think the bowlers didn't concentrate on line and length the way they should. Appart from Joseph, the others don't have the aggression to be bowling short. To summarize the WI performance in the match is, some of the players tried their best but there's a lot of room for improvement.

Been praying for the day when my windies team would get the right type of management and coaching that will help them get their emotional and mental approach to the game right. As a fan for more than 30 years I belive that is what we lack most.. The talent is always there, the mentality needs a serious injection of intent and our soft skills need to improve.... What made us great in the past is that we always approached the game like we were the best team and that is a very big deal not just in sport but life on the whole....

@@sautante young bowlers like Seales and Joseph need to speak to the right people to teach them how to define what they are trying to achieve during their spells. They need to define if it's 3 overs of intimidating bowling for a spell, 5 overs of just tight off stump line or other options... They were just all over the place, gave away cheap double hundreds... No disrespect to the Austin's batsmen.. And you saw how effortlessly Joseph batted. These guys need a leader to let them believe in who they are

Footwork, technique and most importantly the mental side of the game.. They are becoming obsessed with t20 cricket and its eroding the technical quality of our players

A first in test cricket apparently. Mitchell Starc became the first bowler in the history of the game to dismiss a father and a son in his career. Shivnarine lbw 68 in Dominica in April 2012 and Chanderpaul jnr for 45 in this game. Shows Chanderpaul snr’s longevity and how well he was still batting in the twilight of his 21 year test career. I’m old enough to remember his debut v England in 94.

A really good match to start the series, despite what the critics are saying, I think the pitch was not as much of a “batters paradise” it still had some interesting variation and deterioration on offer for the bowlers, but the Aussie batsmen got a little bit lucky and also played well. West indies despite being in the field for almost 2 days played with great grit, and looked like they had the fight within them to chase the mammoth 4th innings target. West Indies have definitely disproved all the negative comments before they came over about their ability to play in Aussie conditions.

Marnus, Steve and Brathwaite lit up this test. Great to see Tagenarine Chanderpaul showing promise at top order against quality bowling attack. Nathan Goat Lyon proving the classic off-spinner still has a place in mordern cricket. He has played against two generations of Chanderpaul! Long hard working career that started at a time when Australia were looking for a very good test spinner! Amazing work! Too bad it’s only a 2 test series. That’s a real shame!

It's great to finally see a competitive Windies side! As an Aussie each summer no matter who we play we wanna smash them but the Windies have a special place in my heart, my second fave team after our boys. The Windies have improved so much in the last 12 months & that's great for not just Windies cricket but international cricket, international cricket needs a competitive Windies test side & i think we are seeing or we are hopefully seeing a Windies team of the future that'll trouble the other test nations. I went to the ground for day 5 after also going for day 2. Both great days out, but you can't beat free entry on day 5. Just a shame there wasn't a bigger crowd on all days. For a while there I thought the Windies might pull it off, but once that eighth wicket fell it was all over.

The No. 1 bowler Pat Cummins didn't bowl a single over in the 2nd innings, still Australia won. Windies fought valiantly but the target was too much for them especially when they don't have quality batting after the opening pair. Everyone is looking forward to the upcoming test series against South Africa. Seeing these two pace attacks bowl at the GABBA would be mouth watering. Moreover, This time the BGT in India would also be very tough. India may still win the series but it'll be a very close contest against this top class aussie side. The last time they won in India was back in 2004 and we are once again the final frontier for them. I want Pant, Jaddu, Bumrah, Ashwin, Virat and Rohit to be all fit and fine for that huge series.
