Our huskies are always happy to meet new dogs. But how will they react to the appearance of the polar wolf? I put on a wolf mask and waited for my dogs in the room. The reaction of each of the dogs was amazing funny and unexpected. Cats also became the objects of this prank. But cats are cats.

dogs have poor eyesight. their sense of smell and hearing is above avg. i can open a bag of jerky and dogs will immediately jump up and down sofa as i walk downstairs. but if i walk downstairs they will bark like an intruder has stepped into house. but after walking into house with open food take out, dogs will bark first then whine incessantly expecting left overs.

I lived in a pub which was never locked. 2 x Great Danes guarded the pub and house. If you walked into the pub outside of hours, both dogs would bark, but not for our family. The dogs were 25m from the pub door, through 3 rooms and 2 doors. They were never wrong. Stating that dogs eyesight is poor is misleading and largely wrong. They are dichromatic (Blue/green) with good long distance vision but not so good binocular vision at close range. They work primarily on scent and they would have recognised the owner in a few seconds. They knew who it was but were surprised by the mask.

The black cat reminded me so much of our Sammy. She was absolutely fearless and would run dogs off our property - all sizes. Nothing phased her. Sadly we lost her much too young at age 7 to liver/kidney failure. Your black cat brought back good memories - thanks.

Monty showed the most caution and he would make the guard dog. However, since you ask who is closer, it's a paradox. Cats have their independent and curious sigma qualities, whilst dogs look straight for the hierarchy.
