Well said Dr. Dunbar. You've hit the nail on the head, and addressed one of my biggest pet peeves in the dog training world. The vast majority of trainers are so focused on text book application and so little on authentic communication. Keep up the great work. Zak George Host of Animal Planet's SuperFetch

while I do think there are boring trainers, I do also think there are many people who give TOO MUCH feedback, in the way of to much "noise" or talking to dogs. The great trainers, IMO are som'where in the middle, using learning theory and markers, but also giving different reinforcers and making training fun. I click/treat in silence at times, but when the dog has a breakthrough, they absolutely get a verbal reaction out of me, and a better primary reinforcer.

@DogStarDaily This stuff is absolutely brilliant - somehow I never came across this channel before even though I was of course somewhat familiar with Dr. Ian Dunbar's work. Yet I can't help pointing out that the pink banner with a cute little puppy on it might not exactly add the credibility of these videos in the eyes of traditional dog trainers who strongly believe in the pack theory and disciplining their dogs. :D

@KrunchMonster1 He's talking about clicker training. And he has been training dogs for well over 30 years, so I think he knows what he's talking about.

this guy doesn't know much about statistics... .. I wonder how much real training he does... I am really hard pressed to find any trainer who sounds like a computer anyway.
