I am 70 years old and am currently the owner of my 7th and 8th Brittany Spaniel. I got my first Brit at age 15 and except for my time in the military have had at least one ever since. Now I am fortunate to own enough land to let my dogs run free with little worry. They have all been great companions and most have slept in my bed with me. If given the chance to adopt another Brit I would do it in a heartbeat.

Hello Jim Schowe, I'm 18 and I just had my 14 year old Brittany Spaniel put down (due to old age and sickness) :( Reading about your story on Brittany's warmed my heart and I hope to do the same thing! I love Brittany's so much and once my heart heals from my last dog, I'll be rescuing or adopting another Brittany to honor him.

I just bought my first Brittany. I have an English Setter who recently got a terminal diagnosis. She's been there for many great hikes in the woods. I'm excited to bring the new guy home in a few days to continue the journey.

My family had a Brittany for 14 years. She unfortunately died about 9 years ago but boy was she a great dog. My dad used to be a heavy runner and he would take her on those runs a lot. Despite how energetic Brittanies are, after they got back and she took a dip in the pool to cool off, she’d then take about an hour long nap to recuperate. There’s nothing she loved more in life than those runs. We miss you Ginger. You were a great dog!

We got a dog that is 1/2 brittany and yeah she is only 16months but we've been walking her since she was 4 months and she always pulls. I like to run but she only walks when tired so what I'm trying to say is she loves running lol while they say walk b4 run she loves to run and I can run pretty fast so 😬😛🐶😉

my favorite pets were two Brittany dogs, both lived to fifteen-years-old, they are the best dog breed, hands down. I miss both of them so much.

If you're an active person, a Brittany is the dog for you. We've had 2. They love to run and love to hunt. For the decade we had the 1st one, our yard was mostly free of squirrels and rabbits thanks to his relentless hunting. They are very smart and great with kids. Ours took food very gently from our hands. They can be a handful when they're puppies. They're very social and will play with other dogs.

Great video. We have had 4 brittanys, one at a time. All were wonderful but so different from each other. One would invite anyone into the house and another barely raised his head if some entered the house. One did not like anyone in the house leading us to crate him if we had company or they would nip at them. We became their pack and they were very protective. All in all they are a super breed, great hunters and house pets.

My dad used to raise them late 40's to 70's. Males usually got to protective of the females after 4-5 years, so he would pay for studs. Best bird dogs and loving. Mine used to nap on the roof of her dog house, like snoopy. She was extremely protective of all the family, she would take on any dog and win in a fight, but there was a big Tom cat that could put her in her place. Great with kids, and i used to hook a 12' leash to my Stingray handle bars and she would pull me a mile everyday.

I didn't even teach my dog to do anything except shake paws but when he met kids he would automatically look the other way while sitting and let them pet him just being super friendly. Brittany's are very smart and realize what's going on. They talk too in their own way which is cool to see. Mind you he drags me everywhere with a 30 foot leash. They got 1 speed, go. I wouldn't give it up for anything!

My Brittany is just a pet and will be 14 in January. When I had chickens she and I had a discussion about her pulling the tail feathers from the hens. I caught her doing it and severely chastised her. I think she would rather be beat (not that I ever would do that) than to be told that she is a BAD dog, something that just crushes her for a minute or two. She never pulled feathers again after that. Sparrows on the other hand. They would get into the cage after the chicken food so I would put her in the cage and watch her catch the sparrows out of the air; her mouth is so soft and dry that she would drop the bird on command and it would fly away. She now has learned to put her front feet on the car sill and wait for me to hoist her onto the seat. Even though I live in Northern Nevada I treat her monthly for heart worm because dogs from the central valley in California may be infected and passing through. My dog groomer remembers my doggys' names but has to look up mine from her notes.

Go for it👍 I got my 1st Brittany when I was 64 and she has been the best dog ever! Love her energy, she keeps me going and is just the coolest dog. People love her, She’s the daughter I never had. 10 years later I’ve slowed down and so has she.

#8 is the most true other than the activity needs on this list. These dogs become so attached to their owners, if you travel often, not the dog for you. They neeeeed you around, a lot.

I have a toller (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) but have been looking at Brittany's lately. My toller is a great companion at home and in the field, but doesn't much care for running with me. Would a Brittany be more eager at handling runs through suburbia? I also think splitting running time between two dogs might be better for their energy levels.

my brittany must be broken lol she is the absolute opposite of just about all of these traits lol but i still love her and wouldn't change her for the world. Just interesting to see this and then compare it to my baby, it's wild lol

@Drummr88 I’m a dog walker and out of all the dog breeds that I’ve met randomly in the parks these seem to be the ones that seek attention from me the most and that’s without knowing me at all. Absolutely lovely dogs.

@@janineexley2067 Brits are great! Super sweet, and the best pals you could ask for. I gotta warn you though - if you're thinking about getting one, they need LOTS of activity. They have to be able to run off-leash.

My Brittany is black and a total dud, I mean that in a great way! We have small pets and he is SUPER chill with them, supervised of course. He is going to be 3 this May and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the breed. Yes, he is high energy but not wild and crazy. The breed is great with children and a pretty quiet.
