A survey published by The Conference Board in November 2023 indicates that CEOs of multinational corporations in China are losing confidence in the country. The survey, which included 35 CEOs primarily from American and European companies operating in China, showed that the number of respondents with negative views outnumbered those with positive views. The organization also found that 40% of the surveyed CEOs expect capital investment to decrease, and nearly as many chief executives also anticipate layoffs in the next six months, a significant increase from only 9% in the first half of the year.

If a shop owned by a German closes, then all the employees lose their jobs. Their salaries are not spent, and re-spent, multiples of times. There are no replacement jobs. The "velocity of money" would state that for every 10 thousand yuan spent on salaries, it affects the GDP seven fold. This is a problem, if you're China..as they're losing MILLIONS of jobs.

Its worse than it even sounds. My Chinese friend used to work for Xiami the phone brand. He told me once that every big company has a Communist library in the main quaters. He said for Xiami the 3rd floor, was a massive unused library filled with CCP books that were all still in their wrapers as they had never been opened on the shelves. And noone really went to the 3rd floor it sounded like. He said it was stupid.. but they HAD to have that as do all large Chinese companies.. It was chilling to hear.

@@stephanc6138 Just going forward. I used to root for China, it was an underdog. Hard work = rewards. Now it's all about how corrupt you can be to get ahead. It sucks cause they do put in a lot of work but the top just treat the lower class like it's nothing. What they don't know is the lowest of the low is their foundation. If you don't treat your foundation. Say... Your feet... Then you can't stand, the whole thing will just crumble. There was a period in late 1990s when Chinese make good was trash, early 2000s China make goods are okay to great. Then 2020s Chinese make goods are to be avoided. All that work put in, but no accountability to corruption is what going to undo china. Sometime it's good to swallow your pride and fix the underlying's for the good of the nation. The CCP thinks (or maybe this is a right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing) that it can enforce what seems (to outsiders) as arbitrary and capricious behavior by the government and its security apparatus while trying to get outsiders with the discretion to do or not to to bring their foreign capital and expertise to the PRC despite the risks. Only the prospect of sufficiently high return (questionable at this point) to justify the risk to foreign companies, foreign employees, and investors would suffice and there is no way that the CCP can actually do that given it can have one policy today and have a completely reverse policy tomorrow. Who can depend on that?

We kinda forget what Angela Merkel, the former Chancellor of Germany, had a distinctive approach to China during her tenure. Unlike her predecessor, Gerhard Schröder, who prioritized business relations with Beijing, Merkel resisted pressure to choose between China and the US, especially in economic matters. She was determined that the European Union (EU) should maintain a distinct China policy separate from that of Washington. Merkel’s approach was characterized by pragmatism, recognizing China as Germany’s largest single trading partner. Her administration emphasized economic ties while also engaging with China on issues like climate change. Despite growing skepticism within Germany’s political establishment and civil society, Merkel maintained a balanced stance. Now China have all what it needs, what will Germany expect. Think hard how China deals with business partners. I was surprise they have the nerve to mention there were con in the end after the Chinese gain what they were after. China got what it needed and don't need anyone around anymore. Now it's time to pick up your looses and go home. That the Chinese are expecting. Hope they learn from their choosen path. All the Assembly tech (machinery) using by china is from Germany. Now China is claiming it origin by cloning them to move into the new china era calling itself the biggest manufacturing hub. What a joke.

Merkel's policy towards Russia and China have come under increasing criticism in Germany...for decades, German politicians turned a blind eye to the threats posed by Russian and China...they often simply bought in...Gerhard Schröder, the former chancellor, is also considered a close friend of Putin. Last year, shares in the Port of Hamburg were sold to China amid considerable criticism. I do not have the impression that German politicians have fully understood what to expect from Russia and China. The Cinese originally wanted to buy the majority of the shares in Hamburg...and only after massive protest in Germany did the German sellers reduce the shares that the Chinese could buy. The port of Hamburg is the most important overseas port in Germany. And with a majority share, the Chinese could have a direct influence on developments and flows of goods in Germany. The one-sided focus of German energy policy on Russia was also a huge mistake. And sometimes i really have the impression that our top German politicians simply do not seem to learn from the mistakes of the past.

China gained a lot from those trading relations, but the CCP revealed it's true character at least 10 years to early. I was taken aback by their audacity to acknowledge deceit only after China achieves its objectives. Once China secures what it desires, it no longer requires the presence of others. It's time to accept losses and retreat. That's what the Chinese anticipate, hoping others learn from their chosen path. Right ? The beatings will continue till morale (and income) improves...

It is happening. Some Chinese factory owners are complaining about net 90 terms(as opposed to the pre-payments they had been receiving). They can['t survive the 90 days it takes to get paid for a decent sized order.
