Doing cap highlights on dark naturally curly hair

I decided to use a highlight/frosting cap to bleach my hair at home. I straightened it about a week prior because I thought it would make it easier to pull through the holes. Whew!

You would have had to leave it on longer to get more blonde, though the final color is still in the blonde family. The toner doesn't lighten but removes bassiess. Looks good though. I think the plastic cap is the way to go over the silicone which was held for me

Just keep it conditioned and moisturized and it shouldn’t be a problem

I love it! We both have the same texture and color hair. Honestly I wanted to see how curly hair would go thru a cap. But it looks to much work and I’ll just keep doing it without it.

The only problem is if you keep on bleaching your hair, which you will when the roots grow , Your hair will be permanently damaged. Been there , Done that. Especially when you redo the ends. It WILL start to break off. I’m waiting for my hairdresser to open to have my damaged bleach ends all cut off. There’s no saving it. So you should think twice about doing it. Your dark natural hair looks so nice. ❤️

Sanaturale No. once the bleach destroys your hair the only thing you can do is keep putting leave in conditioners in to make it look better. But as you keep bleaching it you will find it just gets worse n worse until you have to cut it off. It usually starts to break off at the top of your head ( The crown ). And the bits at the temples of your head. Because you are trying to get it past the orange stage that’s when you will see the damage. The hair can only take so much bleaching , Then you will regret it. You look lovely with dark hair. You are very pretty. I’m having all my bleach ends cut off and just having my natural colour. Since I stopped bleaching my hair. The bits around my hairline have grown back. The bleach made them break off. xxx. 💖. PS. I had mine done professionally too ! ( Foils ). It is long. Soon it will be short because of the bleach 😢. No more bleach for my hair. 😤. One more thing you should know. If you decide to go ahead and get it to the light yellow blonde and you decide you want to go back to your original colour ? You can’t just stick a brown colour on bleached hair !! It will have a kaki GREEN overtone !! You will have to pre fill your hair with some red colour first or use a reddish brown tint to prevent it from looking green. Been there done that too.

It orange because your hair is so dark you should have done the bleach one more round so it could not have been so brassy and it would be lighter also when applying DO NOT start at the ends of the hair start in the middle for like 10 mins then apply to the roots and the end and make sure that you do the whole head next time because it looks very spotty but honestly you should have just done the bleach one more time so that you would get that color you were looking for and no it’s not bc of the henna this always happens with dark hair

You probably already know this, but you needed to do another round of bleach. Lifting very dark hair will ALWAYS take (at least) 2 rounds of bleach. You did the right thing by rinsing it off while the cap was still on, but you needed to dry your hair and go again with the bleach. You can't tone blonde into hair that's orange/copper, etc. You have to lighten your hair to a level of actual blonde to get any sort of result with ANY toner. Toner isn't magic, and it doesn't seek out hair strands to perform miracles. You want to use a volume 10 developer and a toner that is warm to go with your skin tone. That's when a toner will do something. Which in this case, if you had bleached it again, it would simply do its job and remove a *little* of the brassiness. That's all any toner is going to do. But your hair MUST be some shade of a light blonde for this to happen with a toner.
