It took years for me to finally grow up and heal myself mentally from my first relationship which was very toxic at a young age. I didn't want to get into another relationship until I felt like I wasn't going to bring that same toxic energy. We have all dealt with pain in our lives and the next person doesn't deserve to be forced to basically heal a heart they didn't break. I worked on myself and finally met my soul mate. We have a more modern traditional relationship as in I cook, clean and take care of the house and his needs but I also work to bring in money and help with the bills so he's not stressing as much about money. He's the man of the house and I listen to him neither of us control each other. We don't fight or argue because I have a personal rule of my own where if I'm upset I'll think over the reason of why and 9/10 times I come to the conclusion it's not worth me actually being upset or I'm actually upset at something else like work related and he doesn't deserve to have it taken out on him. So I just leave it alone or I'll calmly tell him why I'm upset. It makes things a lot easier. Don't ever settle for less because there is someone out there for everyone and they will treat you right and make you happy.
